SKATEBOARD Skate don’t walk to our newest exhibition... ️ How did the skateboard get to be the way it is today? Our newest exhibition tells the story of its evolution over seven decades and features groundbreaking designs and iconic boards used by the biggest skaters, including Laura Thornhill, Steve Caballero, Mike Vallely, Mark Gonzalez, Tony Hawk and Sky Brown. From its humble start in the Californian hills to being an official Olympic sport today, skateboard has undergone a rapid transformation and that is down to communities forging together and shaping its history. Discover London’s newest skating ramp... Experienced skaters can even sign up for skateboarding sessions in a specially designed ramp inside the gallery space. Skateboarders aged 16 or older can pre-book in advance to enjoy one of the daily two-hour slots. More information here. Design Museum members go free!
