Borough Market - The real food of love

The real food of love

The connection between food and romantic love runs much deeper than a gift of chocolate hearts or pink champagne. Voices of the Borough Market trust

One of the many unusual things about Borough Market is that it’s run not by a private company or a local authority but by a charitable trust. Oysters with Market garnishes

The ultimate Valentine’s Day oyster plate, elevated with striking condiments from around the Market.

Olive oil & dark chocolate mousse

A recipe for a Valentine’s Day treat, inspired by the beautiful Greek olive oil and bee pollen sold at Oliveology.

The Gated Garden

The days before Valentine’s Days are always a busy time for Sharon Crane, who left life in the corporate world to turn her love of plants and flowers into a business, honing her skills and learning from other top florists along the way. Her gorgeous stall, The Gated Garden, has been at the Market since 2013, brightening Three Crown Square with its colourful array of flowers, plants and beautiful garden ornaments.

The Tinned Fish Market

The Tinned Fish Market, run by Patrick Martinez, sells a stunning selection of tinned fish from Portugal, Spain and France, every one of which has sustainability, quality and style at its heart. From sardines sourced from morning markets and tinned the same day to pole-and-line caught tuna marinated in the best olive oils, his tins are carefully sourced, rarely seen elsewhere, and extremely easy on the eye.
