This year Harrods and Dolce&Gabbana join forces to celebrate the 2017 festive season 

An unparalleled partnership: from November 2nd to December 28th a traditional and festive Italian atmosphere will be the main focus of the world’s most famous department store. The windows on Brompton Road & Hans Crescent take inspiration from the Sicilian puppet theatre, whose protagonists are two very special guests in the form of marionettes: Domenico Dolce and Stefano

Gabbana.

The two charming puppets recount the world of Dolce&Gabbana and all the inspirations that animate it and will feature displays to fit the following themes; Perfumery & Cosmetics, Let’s Party, The Family, Traditions, DG Millennials, The Italian Kitchen, Eyewear, Watchmaking, Men’s Tailoring, Italian Beauty, Teatro Alla Scala of Milan, The Future, Women’s Tailoring and Harrods’ Exclusive Accessories.

The display windows this year include the themes - 

1. PERFUMERY AND COSMETICS…The two alchemists, Domenico and Stefano, are busy dealing with fragrances, essences, and bubbling potions, surrounded by adorable puppies and kittens of the great #DGFamily.

2. LET’S PARTY…The two exceptional DJs Domenico and Stefano, are having fun amongst their friends, dancing to music and surrounded by bright disco balls.

3. THE FAMILY… Don’t be scared! It’s just Domenico and Stefano… popping out from mountains of gifts arranged underneath the Christmas tree.

4. TRADITIONS… Domenico and Stefano, in the guise of medieval knights with elegant costumes, are holding up champagne flutes to toast the festivities with their guests.

5. DG MILLENNIALS… In a festive atmosphere, Domenico and Stefano sign new books dedicated to the Millennials. Sat at the table and surrounded by puppies and kittens of the #DGFamily, they are warmed up by the fireplace and in the company of a Santa Claus clone.

6. THE ITALIAN KITCHEN… As lovers of traditional cuisine, Domenico, and Stefano don chef’s caps and play with Smeg toasters, blenders and mixers, surrounded as usual by the puppies and kittens of the great #DGFamily.

7. EYEWEAR… Domenico and Stefano are at your service, tending to a Sicilian cart that sells cotton candy, in a market full of stalls selling sweets and the one-of-a-kind Moon sunglasses.

8. WATCHMAKING… Domenico and Stefano are busy working on watches, cuckoo clocks and intricate mechanisms like two real watchmakers, in a lab full of antiques and, of course, Dolce&Gabbana watches.

9. MEN’S TAILORING… Domenico and Stefano are hard at work with fabrics, threading needles and using measuring tapes to create elegant and bespoke suits for men, just like workshops of the past.

10. ITALIAN BEAUTY… Domenico and Stefano have fun in a beauty salon, working on Harrods’ clients’ hair and makeup. Who wouldn’t love to have two stylists of their talent?

11. TEATRO ALLA SCALA OF MILAN... Who if not Domenico and Stefano, connoisseurs par excellence of the opera and ballet? One of their greatest passions is going to Teatro Alla Scala,symbol of culture around the world.

12. THE FUTURE… Domenico and Stefano are almost unrecognisable decked out in space suits, but it’s them! intent on landing on Mars and bringing a little piece of Italy with them.

13. WOMEN’S TAILORING… Their love for proportions, for attention to detail, for orderliness and for hand-made craftsmanship is part of Domenico and Stefano’s creative spirits.

Liberty London Christmas Windows for 2017 - The Night before Christmas

Inspired by the excitement of ‘The Night before Christmas’, the Emporium and its windows encapsulate the excitement and suspense of the moment just before Christmas day.

The iconic rooftops of Liberty have been recreated under a midnight sky with twinkling starry lights and a warm cream moon. This nostalgic setting has been brought to life with modern rope lighting against a backdrop of rich green foliage including ferns and fragrant eucalyptus.

Moving elements showcase bi-weekly changing products dispersed throughout the display and intricate details ensure a faithful reflection of the iconic London scene. 

A grotesque gargoyle recently discovered by the maintenance team on the Liberty Tudor rooftop has been replicated at the base of the display, while

the iconic golden mayflower weathervane spins in the foreground.

The store’s central atrium also features a dramatic rope light chandelier hanging from the ceiling, visible from each balcony. Preserved green furs and Christmas trees dressed in eucalyptus will encourage a festive atmosphere. 

Oversized wreaths have been sprayed with a Diptyque fragrance that

takes inspiration from the much loved Pine Candle to ensure a feast for the senses.

Every Sunday from the 19th November until the 10th December, Liberty London will welcome Father Christmas into the store to meet with Liberty shoppers.

HARVEY NICHOLS 2017 CHRISTMAS WINDOWS

The Christmas windows focus on spreading positivity this year, with high energy, celebratory visual displays.

The world’s leading luxury retailer, Harvey Nichols, showcases the biggest window schemes of the year - The Christmas windows. Inspired by the vibrant colours from the Autumn / Winter 2017 fashion shows and pre-spring collections, the displays have been designed to delight customers and spread a positive message during the festive period by using a vivid colour palette, innovative lighting techniques, and an upbeat sentiment to create high energy, celebratory window schemes. Rainbow hues, bold textures, and graphic patterns have produced breath-taking displays that are brimming with star shapes and motifs to mesmerise passersby. Innovative lighting techniques have been employed for the first time, including 382 rotating mirror balls and thousands of LED lights, vinyl stars and hanging decorations, and each window has a metallic foil, sequin, and holographic background to create a dazzling riot of colour. Luxurious gift ideas are displayed within giant festive baubles and playful Christmas tree silhouettes are visible throughout.

Janet Wardley, Head of Visual Display, comments: “Themes of joy and positivity ran through the AW17 and SS18 shows, evoking a determination not to dwell on the uncertain times of the current climate. This inspired us to create a high energy scheme that uses dazzling colours, lights, and shapes to entertain our customers – some of the vinyls are so bright that the team had to wear sunglasses during the install!”

The Harvey Nichols 2017 Christmas windows incorporate -
 5,370m of LED strip lights have been used within the Christmas windows, which is the equivalent in length to 478 Routemaster buses - The Christmas windows contain 5,101 hanging baubles, neon balls, and stars, and over 2,000m of sparkly vinyl - 3,555 vinyl stars - 382 mirror balls - 62 bespoke wigs have been made - And the team have given 620 mannequins a manicure.

Christmas Day - From London - London Panoramic Tour, Oxford and Stratford plus Christmas Lunch in the Cotswolds - Christmas Day 2017

TRIP ITINERARY

After your morning pick-up, we begin our Christmas excursion with a panoramic tour of London, taking in all the major highlights - Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London and more.

Next, we  head off to Oxford for a festive walk through this ancient University town, passing by the ivy-clad colleges and picturesque honey-coloured buildings. We will pass Christ Church College, where Lewis Caroll wrote his enchanting tales of Alice in Wonderland and more recently Harry Potter was filmed. Your guide will explain to you the traditions of college life as you take in such famous buildings as the mighty Romanesque Radcliffe Camera and The Ashmolean, the oldest museum in the UK.

Next, we journey into the limestone hills of the Cotswolds, a region of picture book villages made famous by the wool merchants in the 14th century who helped build some of the magnificent manor houses and perpendicular Churches that we will pass. There will be time to stop for photos outside Blenheim Palace where Sir Winston Churchill was born before heading to Stratford for our Christmas lunch.

Sit back and enjoy delicious Roast Turkey with all the trimmings followed by traditional Christmas pudding served in this charming Elizabethan pub that also boasts a superb collection of real ales and fine wines.

In the afternoon we journey to Stratford-upon-Avon passing by Anne Hathaway’s cottage before arriving in this picturesque market town. It is famous of course for William Shakespeare, Britain’s most famous writer who was both born and lies buried here. We stop for photos on our short walk, at both his birthplace and the delightful Holy Trinity Church where the great man finally came to rest.

Please note that Christchurch College and Shakespeare’s Birthplace will be closed on Christmas Day, but the tour still provides a comprehensive overview of each attraction and includes Christmas lunch in the Cotswolds or other location.

Christmas Day Tour - From London - Windsor, Stonehenge, Lacock and Bath with Christmas Lunch - Christmas Day 2017

TRIP ITINERARY

After the morning pick-up, we head off to Windsor Castle for a guided walking tour of the old market town taking in the charming cobbled streets and medieval buildings, including the house that William Shakespeare lived in when he wrote the Merry Wives of Windsor. You will also see the warrant for Charles I’s execution signed by Oliver Cromwell, and Sir Christopher Wren’s intriguing Guildhall, before heading to the Long Walk that boasts the most impressive views of Windsor Castle. Your professional guide will pause here explaining to you the dramatic history of the oldest working Castle. The walk will continue around the perimeter of the Castle before we head for Stonehenge.

Journeying south-west we pass through Runnymede where King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215 before we head to the picturesque Salisbury plains. There will be plenty of time for a photo-stop at Stonehenge, the most famous prehistoric monument in the world. Step back in time 5,000 years while your guide explains the remarkable sequence of events that have surrounded these ancient monoliths.

Christmas lunch is an absolute treat. We visit a charming pub to enjoy Roasted Turkey with all the trimmings followed by delicious Christmas pudding.

Next, we visit the ancient village of Lacock. Lacock is one of England's most picturesque villages, dating back to the Saxon era. The village has provided the setting for many movies and television dramas, including Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Finally, we head to the spa town of Bath for a walking and panoramic driving tour of the old Roman and Georgian town visiting the Royal Crescent, the Circus, and Pulteney Bridge boasting fine views of the River Avon cascading down over the weir.

Please note that the Roman Baths, Windsor Castle, and Stonehenge will be closed, but the tour still provides a comprehensive overview of each attraction and includes a delicious Christmas lunch in a historic English pub. We may visit the above attractions in a different order on the day.
