Revamped Tate Modern to open in June next year

A revamped Tate Modern with "60% more display space" and a "complete rehang" of the artworks will open next year.
The new 10-storey Switch House - built in the oil tanks of the former power station - will also be opened, featuring a panoramic roof terrace.
The unveiling will be on 17 June but schoolchildren will be the first to see it, with a special preview on 16 June.
The Tate also revealed record-breaking visitor figures of 7.9 million for the year 2014 to 2015.
Tate Modern was the organisation's most-visited gallery over the period, attracting 5.7 million guests.
The figures mark a resurgence after 2013 - 2014, when visitor numbers fell to to 7 million from 7.8 million, and Tate Modern's saw its numbers drop from 5.5 million to 4.8 million.

Tate's galleries have had record visitor numbers

Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota said at the time that the decline had been expected, following the "bounce" the galleries received from London's 2012 Olympic Games, the opening of the Tanks gallery spaces at Tate Modern and a Damien Hirst show.
The revamped gallery will display the artworks of more than 250 artists, from "much-loved works from the collection" to "new acquisitions," the gallery said.
Tate director Nicholas Serota added: "The new Tate Modern is an instrument that will allow us to offer a rich variety of experiences to visitors and opportunities to artists for different kinds of presentation of their work."
