Borough Market - Get on board

Join us next week for an Evening of Cheese

For anyone who understands the heavenly appeal of a heaving Christmas cheeseboard, the annual Borough Market Evening of Cheese is an unmissable event. Next Wednesday 13th December from 6-9pm, the Market will be filled with an incredible range of British and European cheeses, sold by our amazing community of cheesemongers. Several are producers themselves, so you’re buying the cheese directly from source. Others have built the closest of ties with the small-scale cheesemakers who supply them. As a result, the level of their knowledge is exceptionally high, as is their enthusiasm for sharing it. They’ll offer their suggestions and answer your questions as well as filling your bags. Drinks traders will also be on hand to keep you refreshed.

Odd couples

Gurdeep Loyal scours the stalls to find some bold, adventurous pairings for a Borough Market Christmas cheeseboard, from Bermondsey Hard Pressed with hot banana chutney to vacherin mont d’Or with a pickle brine whisky sour.

Mons Cheesemongers

Mons Cheesemongers sources exceptional French and Swiss cheeses from specialist regional producers, then carefully ages them in maturing rooms in France and England. The result is a wide-ranging and ever-changing array of spectacular cheese, including Alpine winter classics such as vacherin mont d’Or and beaufort alpage.

Trethowan Brothers

The Trethowan Brothers stall sells a range of artisan cheeses made by small-batch British cheesemakers. Two of the cheeses the brothers, Todd and Maugan, make themselves: Pitchfork cheddar and Gorwydd caerphilly. Both are produced in north Somerset using raw milk, hand-turned presses and heritage methods.
