Whether it was celebrating the Museum of London Docklands' 20th birthday in style with a Victorian knees-up, coming together for a family festival or popping by to enjoy our galleries, thank you for joining us this year!


We hope to see you one last time in 2023 as we recreate the magic of London's Frost Fairs and sing along to a festive family gospel this week. We look forward to sharing more with you in 2024!

Festive family fun this week

Fun at the frost fair

Sat 16 - Wed 20 Dec, 11am - 3.30pm. Free, drop in. All ages

Join us as we recreate the magic of frost fairs, London's famous winter festivals. Whip up a gingerbread treat, put on a puppet performance, or try your luck at different games in this immersive play area.

Morning explorers

Sun 17 Dec, 9-10.50am (museum opens to the public at 10am). Free, advance tickets required. All ages

Join us for a festive edition of our relaxed early openings, sensitive to the needs of children with an autism spectrum condition. Explore our interactive frost fair, visit the Mudlarks Family Gallery and book tickets for a relaxed visit with Father Christmas (limited tickets available).

Help us show others what to expect at our fantastic family-friendly events. Explore the magic of a Frost Fair as photographers capture your visit. Families taking part will receive free tickets to our Mudlarks Family Gallery in thanks.

Festive family gospel

Wed 20 Dec, 11-11.45am and 2-2.45pm. Free, drop in. Ages 0-7 years

We’ve teamed up with Baby Gospel to bring you a special event for all the family! Sing and clap along to festive songs, soul and Motown hits and of course a few Christmas carols and nursery rhymes from the astonishing vocal talents of London’s CK Gospel Choir.

Queen Victoria’s handmade gifts

Queen Victoria’s watercolours and drawings are quite well known, but did you know she embroidered and crocheted pretty gifts for family members all through her life? We look through the museum’s collection for several examples of the queen’s handiwork.

Penny toys and poverty

Over Christmas, we look at a selection of Christmassy items from our collection, ranging from a magnificent ballet dress once worn by Anna Pavlova, to some humble tinplate toys. Every one of these toys was imported from Germany and sold on London’s streets for a single penny.

Start the new year with interactive fun

Step into our enhanced family gallery for under 8s and delve into the joy of exploratory play with your little one. Join us for earlier openings from 9:10am, Wednesday to Sunday, from January. Tickets from £3* per person.
