Weekend travel information

If you have plans this weekend, there are lots of ways to get around London.


The information in this email could change, so please check before you travel or use TfL Go to plan your journey.
 

London Underground

     

Metropolitan line

Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October

No service between Aldgate and Baker Street and minor delays on the rest of the line
There is a possibility that this closure and disruption will continue over the weekend and into next week. 

Change at Baker Street for Bakerloo, Circle and Hammersmith & City line services into central London, or use the Jubilee line from either Finchley Road or Baker Street.

This is due to engineering work to fix a track fault. 

     

Piccadilly line

Friday 31 October

No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge

This closure is a precautionary measure to protect our trains from wheel damage, which can happen during high levels of leaf fall caused by adverse weather conditions.

Metropolitan line services are expected to run between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge on Friday and over the weekend, but services are expected to be disrupted.

Friday 31 October into Saturday 1 November

No Friday Night Tube service between Hammersmith and Heathrow

Use alternative Night Bus services. Rail replacement buses will run. This is due to track work.

Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November

No service between Acton Town and Heathrow including Saturday Night Tube

Use alternative Tube or Elizabeth line services, or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run. This is due to track work.

No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge

Metropolitan line services are expected to run between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge on Friday and over the weekend, but services are expected to be disrupted.
When travelling with children, keep their feet clear from the edge of the escalator

No service between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction until 09:30

Use local bus routes.

Thursday 30 October

No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:45
Use alternative Tube, local or rail replacement bus services. This is due to Network Rail maintenance work.

Monday 3 until Thursday 6 November

No service between Highbury & Islington and New Cross, New Cross Gate and Clapham Junction after 21:15 each night

Use Tube, Mildmay line or DLR services, or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run. This is due to Network Rail maintenance work.

Elizabeth line

Monday 3 until Wednesday 5 November

Reduced service between Paddington and Maidenhead/Heathrow T4 after 22:00 each night

Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell and West Ealing after 22:30 each night.

DLR

The following closures are due to works at Beckton depot and other third party works.

Friday 31 October

No service between Prince Regent and Beckton

Use local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Prince Regent and Gallions Reach via Beckton. For ExCeL Centre, use Elizabeth line services.

Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November

No service between Tower Gateway and Shadwell, and between Canning Town and Beckton

Use Tube or Windrush line services, or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Prince Regent and Gallions Reach via Beckton. For ExCeL Centre, use Elizabeth line services.

London Trams 

Until Sunday 2 November

No service between Wimbledon and Therapia Lane

Use local bus routes. Tram replacement buses will run between Wimbledon and Waddon Marsh. This is due to engineering works.

Buses and roads

 

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes over the weekend. A bus strike will affect some bus routes in southwest, west and northwest London.

 

Bus strike

Due to planned strike action, some bus routes in southwest, west and northwest London will be disrupted during the following times:
  • From 05:00 on Tuesday 4 until 05:00 on Friday 7 November
  • From 05:00 on Friday 14 until 05:00 on Saturday 15 November
  • From 05:00 on Monday 17 until 05:00 on Wednesday 19 November
  • From 05:00 on Wednesday 26 until 05:00 on Saturday 29 November
During these strikes, little or no service is expected on the following routes: 13 (24hr route), 23 (24hr route), 31218295 (24hr route), 452 and N31

All other bus routes, Tube and rail services will run as planned but services in this area may be busier than usual. Plan ahead, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel.

Increased footfall and traffic levels are expected before and after each event, with some venues implementing local road closures to safely manage pedestrian and vehicle movements.

Friday 31 October until Monday 3 November

A3

From 21:00 on Friday until 06:00 on Monday, the A3 will be closed in both directions from the M25 Junction 10 Wisley Interchange to the A245 Painshill roundabout.

During this time, the M25 and Junction 10 gyratory will remain open. For further information and traffic management details, visit the National Highways website

Saturday 1 November

Central London

From 12:00 until 15:00, a march will take place across central London, starting and finishing at Marble Arch via Park Lane, Piccadilly, Regent Street and Oxford Street. Large crowds are expected, with the potential for road closures along the route.

Kensington High Street

From 20:00 on Saturday until 01:00 the following morning, lane restrictions will be in place on Kensington High Street during Halloween decorations de-rigging.

Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November

Westminster

From 00:01 on Saturday 1 until 23:59 on Sunday 2 November, Victoria Street will be closed in both directions between Buckingham Gate and Palace Street for a crane operation.

Sunday 2 November

Central and south London

From 07:00 until 16:30, a veteran car run event will take place from London to Brighton, starting on Serpentine Road, Hyde Park and heading south to Brighton. Increased traffic levels are expected along the event route.

Southall

From 08:00 until 20:00, road closures will be in place for a religious procession in Southall, starting at Park Avenue and finishing at Guru Nanak Road via Green Drive, Uxbridge Road, Southall High Street, South Road, The Green and King Street. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected. 

Central London

From 13:00 until 16:00, a march will take place from Portland Place to Trafalgar Square via Regent Street, Piccadilly and Haymarket. Road closures may be in place.

Until Tuesday 4 November

Battersea Bridge

From Sunday 2 until Tuesday 4 November, there will be a series of overnight closures on Cheyne Walk, Battersea Bridge and Battersea Bridge Road. This is while we complete resurfacing works. Signed diversions will be in place for all closures. 

On Sunday, the closure will be between 20:00 and 05:00. On Monday and Tuesday, closures will be between 21:00 and 05:00.

If you're travelling in the area during this time, plan ahead, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel.

The following docking stations are suspended this weekend:
