Jazz on 3: Maida Vale Studio Session
Join Jazz on 3 - BBC Radio 3's weekly contemporary jazz programme - for a very special event. As part of Radio 3's celebration of British music, we've a double bill of live performances at the historic Maida Vale Studios in London.
Hosted by presenter Jez Nelson, the night features leading musicians from two different generations of British jazz. Black Top (Pat Thomas, Orphy Robinson, Steve Williamson, Byron Wallen) are an improvising group bringing together acoustic instruments and the electronic soundworlds of dub and reggae. Trumpeter Laura Jurd is one of the most exciting musicians to have emerged in recent times, and performs with a quintet that features the experimental vocals of Lauren Kinsella. Jazz On 3 is broadcast every Monday from 11pm until 12.30am. From week to week you can hear free jazz to fusion, post-bop to electronica. We don't really care how it's labeled as long as it's good. Above all Jazz on 3 celebrates the music as a living and developing art form. Please note that tickets will be distributed by a random draw. You can register for tickets at any time until Monday 27 May at 11.30pm. You can apply for a maximum of two tickets per person. Date: Wednesday 5 June Venue: BBC Maida Vale Studios, London Doors open: 7.15pm To enter the random draw, visit bbc.co.uk/tickets. Good luck with your application. Kind regards BBC Studio Audiences |
