EDGE Birds have landed!
EDGE Birds have landed!
ZSL is today launching the new EDGE Birds conservation programme which focuses on the world’s most Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) birds. Priorities for conservation range from the majestic Philippine Eagle which was once known as the ‘Monkey-eating Eagle’  to the Tooth-billed Pigeon a close relative of the dodo. These one-of-a-kind birds illustrate the wonderful diversity that exists in our natural world.

Half of the 100 highest ranked EDGE bird species are receiving little or no conservation attention and are in danger of fading unnoticed into extinction. The launch of EDGE Birds enables us to prioritise our conservation efforts to those in greatest need. We need your support to develop new projects to ensure a future for these irreplaceable species.
