This is the first ever UK exhibition on the work of Cristóbal Balenciaga and his continuing influence on modern fashion.
Over 100 garments and 20 hats reveal Balenciaga’s unique approach to making and uncompromising creativity. His lasting impact is shown through the work of those who trained with him and through garments by more contemporary designers who reflect his vision today.
Inspired by Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion, this practical workshop gives students an introduction to metalwork, embroidery, stumpwork and beading, embroidery techniques used in fashion and particularly in haute-couture.
