Here is our advice for getting around London during the festive period. The majority of TfL services will continue to run, with some service changes necessary to allow for essential improvement work. | |

The majority of our services will run. The main changes to our services on the key days are outlined below. For details of the services running each day, please visit tfl.gov.uk/christmas-travel
Saturday 23 December - Planned closures on TfL Rail, some London Overground routes and part of the Northern line.
Christmas Eve, Sunday 24 December - Last trains on Tube and rail services will be earlier than usual and buses will run until about midnight. Planned closures on TfL Rail, London Overground and some Tube lines.
Christmas Day, Monday 25 December - No service on the TfL network. Santander Cycles will be available as normal.
Boxing Day, Tuesday 26 December - Tube services will start later than usual with planned closures on some lines. There will be no London Overground or TfL Rail service. Buses will run a Sunday service. Santander Cycles will be available as normal.
Wednesday 27 - Friday 29 December - Saturday or Sunday services will run on most of the network. Planned closures on TfL Rail, London Overground and some Tube lines.
Saturday 30 December - Planned closures on TfL Rail, London Overground and some Tube lines.
New Year’s Eve, Sunday 31 December - Free travel will be provided on all of our services from 23:45 until 04:30 or last service.
Some tube stations will have different arrangements than usual during the evening for the fireworks event.
From around 14:00 some bridges and roads in central London will start to close to prepare for the ticketed fireworks event. All bridge and road closures will be in place from 20:00 and most will re-open at 06:00 on Monday 1 January, or when safe to do so. Once road closures are in place, bus hubs will be in operation. Some central London road closures will remain until 18:00 for the New Year’s Day Parade.

From Sunday 24 until Saturday 30 December, there will be no service between Edgware Road and Aldgate, via Victoria while we replace track and points in the Gloucester Road area. |

From Sunday 24 until Saturday 30 December, trains will not run between the following stations while we carry out track and points replacement work in the Earl’s Court area: |
| • | South Kensington / Edgware Road and Ealing Broadway / Richmond / Wimbledon |
| • | Earl’s Court to Kensington (Olympia) |
|
Piccadilly line trains to / from Rayners Lane and Uxbridge will call additionally at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Turnham Green and Chiswick Park, approximately every 10 minutes. |

On Sunday 17 December, trains will not run between Aldgate and Wembley Park on the Metropolitan line before 09:30 and after 20:30. This is to allow us to replace track and signalling between Baker Street and Finchley Road. |

On Friday 22 December, there will be no Charing Cross branch trains between Charing Cross and Stockwell from approximately 00:00 until 02:00 on Friday night / Saturday morning. This is in preparation for the Northern line extension
On Monday 1 January 2018, there will be no service between Charing Cross and Kennington from18:00 to prepare for the Northern line extension. |

On Tuesday 26 December, the Waterloo & City line is closed as part of a reduced Bank Holiday service.

On Saturday 16 December there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters), due to Network Rail infrastructure work.

On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 December, due to Thameslink Programme works there will be no service between the following stations: |
| • | Surrey Quays and New Cross Gate from 00:15 until 05:30 Friday night / Saturday morning |
| • | Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction / Crystal Palace / West Croydon until 09:45 on Saturday |

On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 December, trains will not run between the following stations: |
| • | Camden Road and Stratford as well as between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction due to bridge replacement work at Highbury Corner |
| • | Romford and Upminster due to Crossrail construction work |
|
On Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December no London Overground services will run.

From Wednesday 27 until Saturday 30 December, trains will not run between the following stations due to bridge replacement work at Highbury Corner: |
| • | Camden Road and Stratford |
| • | Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction |

From Wednesday 27 December until Monday 1 January, Network Rail infrastructure work will result in: |
| • | Trains not running between Edmonton Green and Cheshunt |
| • | Trains between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town/Chingford not stopping at Bethnal Green, Cambridge Heath, London Fields, Hackney Downs or Clapton |

From Wednesday 27 December until Monday 1 January, Crossrail construction work will result in trains not running between Romford and Upminster
On Sunday 31 December, trains will not run between Euston and Kilburn High Road until 12:15 and from 20:30, while Network Rail carry out track work.
There will be no service between Gospel Oak and Barking until Sunday 14 January 2018. This is while Network Rail continues major works to enable new, longer trains to run from spring 2018.

Bus users may be affected by the following during the festive period. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination:
Central London – Until 22 December, Fenchurch Street at the junction of Billiter Street will be closed in both directions to facilitate borough urban realm improvements.
Central London – Today Thursday 14 December, from 10:00 until 14:00, there will be possible short traffic holds along Ludgate Hill and approaches, and St Paul's Churchyard between Ludgate Hill and New Change. This is for an event.
Central London – Until 06:00 on 23 December, the carriageway on Waterloo Bridge is reduced to one lane both ways for bridge maintenance work. On 16 December between 21:00 and 06:00, the bridge will be closed fully in both directions.
North London – From 01:00 on Monday 18 December until 04:00 on Monday 8 January, Holloway Road will be closed in both directions at the junction with Highbury Corner. Changes will also apply to the way traffic uses Highbury Corner roundabout for the full duration of Holloway Road closure. Vehicles will use the southern part of the roundabout as a two way road instead of moving around the roundabout. Temporary signals will be in operation.
Wembley - From 09:30 until 16:30 on Tuesday 26 December, roads around the stadium will be busier than usual, including A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road and Wembley High Road. This is due to an event.
South West London – From 13:00 until 20:00 on Saturday 30 December, roads around Twickenham Stadium will be busier than usual including A316 Chertsey Road. There will also be closures and diversions on London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road. This is due to an event.

The Congestion Charge and T Charge will be suspended from Saturday 23 December until Monday 1 January inclusive. The daily charge will apply again from Tuesday 2 January. Road users may be affected by the following during the festive period.

There will be no Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect services from Sunday 24 to Wednesday 27 December. The Piccadilly line will be open throughout the period, except on Christmas Day and will be very busy; allow more time for your journey.
There will also be no Southeastern trains to Charing Cross, Waterloo East, London Bridge, Cannon Street, Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill, Westcombe Park, New Cross and St. Johns from Saturday 23 December to Monday 1 January.
Thameslink trains will not run between Blackfriars and St. Pancras throughout this period and there will be a reduced Southern timetable, including a rail replacement bus service to Gatwick Airport on Boxing Day.
