If you are out and about over the weekend, there are lots of public transport options. 

There are some potential planned national rail strikes happening this week. You can find more details below.

London Underground

 

National rail strikes — Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 June

On Thursday 23 and Saturday 25, we will run as much of our network as possible, but disruption is expected on the following sections of line:

  • London Overground - reduced service between 07:30 and 18:00 and no service between Romford and Upminster until Monday. Complete your journey by 18:00
  • Elizabeth line - central section has reduced service early morning and after 17:00. The western and eastern branches both have reduced service, with the west starting from 07:40 and east from 07:30. Complete all journeys by 16:30
  • Bakerloo line - there will be no service from Queen’s Park to Harrow & Wealdstone
  • District line - the Richmond and Wimbledon branches of the District line will run a reduced service. Complete your journey by 18:00
  • Waterloo & City line - services will run as usual on Thursday 23 but there is a planned closure on Saturday 25 June 

Disruption on lines affected by Network Rail strike actions will continue into Friday 24 and Sunday 26 June. Avoid making journeys on affected services until mid-morning each day.

Night Tube strikes — until Sunday 26 June

The planned strike action on Friday and Saturday nights on the Central, Jubilee and Victoria lines between 20:30 and 04:29 the following morning, has been extended until Sunday 26 June.

While Night Tube services are still running regularly, if you are using these lines on a Friday or Saturday between 19:00 and 06:00 the next morning, you should check before you travel.

Sunday 26 June

No service between Turnham Green and Richmond

A rail replacement bus service will run.

London Overground

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June

No service between Sydenham and West Croydon

Use local bus, Southern rail or rail replacement bus services

No service between Gospel Oak and Barking

Use alternative Tube, local bus or rail replacement bus services. 

No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt. On Sunday after 22:15 this closure extends to Liverpool Street

Use alternative Tube, Greater Anglia, local bus or rail replacement bus services.

Sunday 26 June

No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction

A rail replacement bus service will run. 

No service between Willesden Junction and Richmond

A rail replacement bus service will run.

No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:15

Use alternative Tube or the rail replacement bus service.

Monday 27 until Thursday 30 June

No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:45 each night

Use alternative Tube or the rail replacement bus service. 

Elizabeth line

Until late 2022

There will be no service on Sundays between Paddington and Abbey Wood until late 2022.

DLR

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June

No service between Bank/Tower Gateway and Poplar/
West India Quay

For Bank/Monument, use the District/Circle line via Tower Hill. For Poplar and West India Quay use Canary Wharf. A rail replacement bus service will run.

Buses and roads

 

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

 

Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June

Wembley Stadium

Ed Sheeran will be performing in concert at Wembley Stadium. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Friday 24 until Sunday 26 June

Pall Mall East closure

Pall Mall East will be closed from 23:00 on Friday 24 until 20:00 on Sunday 26 June, along with a lane closure on Morley’s Hill. All bus stops on Morley’s Hill will remain open.

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June

British Summer Time Hyde Park concerts

Park Lane will be closed from around 21:45 for the Rolling Stones on Saturday, and the Eagles concert on Sunday, in Hyde Park. All roads will reopen by 23:00. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Sunday 26 June

Trinity School Triathlon

Addiscombe Road, between Shirley Road and Ashburton Road, will be closed for the annual Trinity School Triathlon. It will take place from 06:00 to 11:00. Use alternative routes.

Croydon Food and Music Festival

South End Road between Coombe Road and Aberdeen Road will be closed from 12:00 to 19:00 for the Croydon Food and Music Festival. Buses will be diverted around the closures.

From Monday 27 June

Enforcement of cycle lanes on TfL red routes 

From Monday 27 June, we may issue a fine to motor vehicles caught driving in a cycle lane on a TfL red route when not permitted to help improve cycle safety on our roads. Find out more about the rules of cycle lanes.

Monday 27 June until Wednesday 13 July

A20 Sidcup Road and Sidcup Bypass overnight closures

The A20 Sidcup Road and Sidcup Bypass will be closed between 22:00 and 05:00 Mondays to Fridays. This is while we carry out essential maintenance works including repairs to the road, gully cleaning, lighting maintenance and barrier repairs.

Work will be done in sections to reduce impact, and signed diversion routes will be in place. Visit our website for live road travel updates.

Until summer 2022

A41 Edgware Way

Until summer 2022, we will be undertaking repair works on the A41 Edgware Way bridge over the M1, next to Apex Corner.

This will involve closures in alternating directions on the A41 and lane closures on the M1. Buses in the area will be affected with delays, bus stop closures and some routes on diversion. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.

Until mid-August

Gas mains replacement works

Until mid-August, there will only be one lane open in each direction on Commercial Road between Henriques Street and Back Church Lane. There will also be no access to Christian Street or Batty Street from Commercial Road; residents can gain access from Fairclough Street. This is while Cadent Gas carries out essential gas mains replacement work.

Delays are expected and you are advised to plan ahead, leave more time for your journey and use alternative routes where possible. Please check status updates for the latest information on how roads are operating in your area.
