Mary Gillick: modelling The Queen’s portrait Coinciding with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, this display will explore the life and work of the sculptor Mary Gillick (1881–1965), who won a competition in 1952 that would see her art in everyone’s pocket! Her portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appeared on British and Commonwealth coinage until decimalisation in 1971. Come and see one of the world’s most famous faces in profile.
