International Slavery Remembrance Day
23 August
All are welcome for a free day of reflection, talks, music and family activities to commemorate the lives and explore the legacies surrounding the trade of enslaved peoples.
Guests include David Olugosa, the British Library and the Ethno Vox choir.

Astronomy Courses
We offer a huge range of courses for adult learners, from GCSE astronomy or introductory astrophotography to a two-year foundation course in astrophysics.
They all take place in the unique setting of the Royal Observatory Greenwich, with a state of the art planetarium and the largest lensed telescope in the UK.

Family Fun this Summer
We've also got a fantastic series of events planned to keep the kids entertained over the holidays.
At Cutty Sark you can meet characters from the ship's past or children can create their own sea monsters. Up at the Royal Observatory, we're planning for a mission to Mars and travelling the Universe in our planetarium. Or enjoy free galleries and workshops at the National Maritime Museum.

Armada Portrait is saved!
Thanks to your generous support this amazing painting has been saved for the nation.
Working with the Art Fund our public appeal was one of the most successful campaigns ever run for a work of art. Thanks to 8,000 donations in just ten weeks, along with a generous grant of £7.4m from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the famous painting can now enter a public collection for the first time.
After a brief period of display, it will go to our conservation studios before becoming the centrepiece of the Queen's House reopening
