 | We're reopening!We are delighted that our wonderful free galleries of natural history, world cultures and musical instruments will be reopening again from this Monday 17 May. You can enjoy our Aquarium and Butterfly House, as well as an extraordinary new Monkey Business exhibition (admission charges apply). Until 13 June you can also visit the free display, From Birth till Death: Scrolled Life Stories, which was recently shortlisted for UK Exhibition of the Year in the Museum + Heritage Awards. Please note that the Museum and Butterfly House will be closed every Wednesday. Our beautiful Gardens remain open daily.
To ensure safety and social distancing all visitors must book a free ticket in advance online for admission to the Museum. You must also wear a face mask or covering unless you are exempt.
The Café and Gardens kiosks are open for a fresh and delicious range of snacks, treats and hot and cold drinks. You are welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy in the Gardens. |

Time to support the Horniman
The Horniman has thrived through 120 years of change and challenges but 2020 was a year like no other. Although our Gardens have remained open over the past year the Museum itself has spent more time closed than open. When we had to close our doors we lost much of our income overnight. Whilst we receive some government funding, the rest comes from our members, benefactors and visitors, who choose to keep supporting us every year.
After implementing various cost saving measures, we are still expecting a deficit of over £500k this financial year and a shortfall for years to come. So we’re asking for your help.
As we approach our 120th anniversary this June, there’s never been a more important time to support the Horniman.
