Borough Market - Join us for an Evening of Cheese

Join us for an Evening of Cheese

Borough Market’s annual Evening of Cheese has matured into an unmissable part of our Christmas preparations. Next Wednesday 15th December from 6-8pm, our long list of cheesemongers will fill the Market with an unparalleled selection of cheeses from Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands, including traditional regional classics and the personal creations of inventive cheesemakers. The common thread is the quality of the cheese and the commitment of the people selling it.
Some of our cheesemongers are producers, others buy their products directly from small-scale cheesemakers, many are heavily involved in maturing the cheeses they source. As a result, the level of their knowledge is exceptionally high, as is their enthusiasm for sharing it. They’ll offer their recommendations and answer your questions. Between them they’ll ensure that by the end of the evening, you’ve bagged yourself the best Christmas cheese board imaginable. Wine, beer and cider traders will also be on hand to keep shoppers refreshed.

Ginger Pig

Ginger Pig’s meat is sourced from a network of like-minded farmers, who between them raise a wonderful array of native British rare breed livestock, with an emphasis on good animal husbandry and welfare. The exceptional meat is skilfully butchered and properly hung on site when appropriate, leaving nothing to waste – the offal, sausages and pies are as prized as the prime cuts.

Wild Beef

Richard and Lizzie Vines’ small herd of Welsh blacks and native Devon cattle are free to roam the West Country moors on which the duo live and farm. Reared and finished on uncultivated Dartmoor pasture, the meat sold by Wild Beef is hung for a minimum of three weeks. The stand also offers free range chicken and poultry from The Ark Chicken Co, also from Devon.
