Sensory-sensitive Panto arrives to Wandsworth’s Civic Suite for the very first time this Christmas

Journey into Aladdin's Cave at the Civic Suite Wandsworth for the very first time this Christmas. Ideal for children ages 3-11, this unforgettable pantomime of the classic story of Aladdin will quickly have the entire family enthralled.

Kicking off in December there are 19 performances between the 7th and 19th.  The show, created by Hurricane Productions, brings together a team of professionally trained actors, vibrant scenery, wonderful costumes and even magic tricks. It’s going to be genie-us!

Specific sensory-sensitive performances will run on Tuesday 14th (evening) and Wednesday 15th (day) featuring a Chill Out Room, Meet the Cast , alternative lighting and special effects. Sensory sensitive performances can include the following:

·        Chill Out Room: a space is made available for audience members who need a bit of quiet time before and during the performance.

·        Meet the Cast: the audience can ‘meet’ the actors after the performance, which helps to close the circle of understanding for people who have difficulties with flexibility of imagination.

·        Lighting and special effects are changed: for example, for example, lighting effects will be reduced and house lights may be kept on low to reduce anxiety.

·        The theatre can accommodate ‘familiarisation visits’,

which is an opportunity for the audience to look inside the auditorium prior to the show.

Throughout the performance there will generally be a more relaxed attitude to noise and to the audience moving around the building. All cast and staff are briefed, so that there is no undue concern over unexpected noises and movement.
