It's been a momentous year for all of us at Royal Collection Trust, from the highs of the Platinum Jubilee and our popular exhibitions commemorating Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne, to the deep sadness at news of Her late Majesty's death in September.  Next year we look forward to celebrating the coronation of our new King and welcoming you to the royal palaces. EXHIBITION The art of lacquer The Queen's Gallery,  London until 26 February 2023 A dazzling lacquer box was presented to Queen Elizabeth II for the Coronation in 1953 by the Japanese Imperial Family and can now be seen as part of our exhibition, Japan: Courts and Culture, at Buckingham Palace.   Watch our film to learn more about the intricate Japanese art of lacquer, known as ‘urushi’, and how modern urushi lacquer artist Murose Kazumi uses age-old techniques today. VISIT See Windsor Castle's decorations Windsor Castle until 2 January 2023 The Waterloo Chamber, one of the largest and most impressive rooms in the Castle, features a sumptuous table display of decorative items from the Royal Collection beneath glittering chandeliers.
