Weekend travel information

Upcoming strike action

 

Bus strikes

Strike action is planned by Abellio and Metroline drivers over December.This disruption will occur on the following dates:

  • Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 December (Abellio only)
  • Thursday 8 December (Abellio only)
  • Friday 9 December (Abellio and Metroline)
  • Saturday 10 December (Metroline only)
  • Thursday 15 December (Abellio only)
  • Friday 16 December (Abellio and Metroline)
  • Saturday 17 December (Metroline only)
The Metroline strike action from Thursday 1 until Saturday 3 December has been suspended. 
 

Routes affected by the Abellio strike action are mostly in west and south London, while routes affected by the Metroline strike action are mostly in west, northwest and north London.

London Underground

     

Piccadilly line

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December

No service between Acton Town and Uxbridge

Use alternative Tube or rail replacement bus services.

     

Victoria line

Saturday 3 December

Busier services expected at Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale stations due to boxing match at Tottenham Hotspur stadium

Victoria line services and Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale stations will be busy, from around 16:00, ahead of the event. There will be no London Overground service through Seven Sisters or White Hart Lane stations on Saturday.

Due to escalator work at Seven Sisters, all entrance/exit will be via the High Road ticket hall and there will be no down escalator service from around 16:00, while crowds travel to the event.

After the event, managed queuing systems will be in place at both stations. Local road closures and bus diversions will be in place around the stadium between 18:00 and 23:30.

London Overground

Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December

No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction

Use local bus routes after 23:59 on Friday 2 December. A rail replacement bus service will run on Saturday and Sunday. 

No service between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town /Cheshunt/Chingford

Use alternative Tube, local bus or rail replacement bus services.

Sunday 4 December

No service between Barking and Barking Riverside until 20:00

Use local bus routes EL1, EL2 or EL3 for alternative routes.

Monday 5, Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 December

No westbound service between Camden Road and Willesden Junction after 23:45 each night

Use alternative Tube, London Overground services or local bus routes.

Tuesday 6, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 December

No southbound London Overground service between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush until 06:15

Use local bus routes 220 or 228.

Elizabeth line

Sunday 4 December

Reduced service between Paddington and Heathrow/ Maidenhead

Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, West Ealing and Hanwell.

DLR

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December

No service between Westferry/Poplar and Lewisham

Use alternative Tube, Southeastern Railway or rail replacement bus services.

IFS Cloud Cable Car

Until Thursday 8 December

Closed for annual maintenance

Services between Greenwich Peninsula and Royal Docks will be closed for annual routine maintenance. The cable car will reopen on Thursday 8 December at 07:00.

Buses and roads

 

Some bus services in north, west, south and northwest London will be affected by strike action throughout December, as detailed above. 

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

 

Saturday 3 December

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

A boxing match between Fury and Chisora will be taking place. The event will begin at 17:00. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

O2 Arena, Greenwich

O2 Arena is hosting Pete Tong in concert from 17:30 to 23:30. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Sunday 4 December

O2 Arena, Greenwich

The Basketball Hall of Fame London Show will be taking place from 14:30 to 23:00. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Until Wednesday 7 December

A127 Southend Arterial Road

From 21:00 until 05:00 each night until Wednesday 7 December, we will be carrying out resurfacing works on the A127 Southend Arterial Road, between Gallows Corner and Hall Lane.

The work will require temporary lane closures and changes to access arrangements to enable contractors to complete the work efficiently and safely.

Signed diversion routes will be in place along local roads. Please allow more time to complete your journey.

Monday 5 until Thursday 8 December

A4 westbound carriageway closure

The A4 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight between 22:00 and 05:00 the following morning between Hogarth roundabout and Chiswick roundabout. This is due to resurfacing work taking place on the A4 at the junction with Sutton Court Road.

Customers are advised to check before they travel, follow the signed diversion route and allow more time to complete their journey.

Until late December 

A4 Great West Road works

Essential maintenance work is taking place on the A4 Great West Road between Chiswick roundabout and Hogarth roundabout.There are currently two lanes open eastbound between Chiswick roundabout and Hogarth roundabout, and the slip road to join the A4 eastbound from Chiswick roundabout is closed.

A signed diversion route is in place to Hogarth roundabout for customers who join the A4 eastbound at Chiswick roundabout.Delays are expected if you are driving in the area and you should check before you travel, use alternative routes and allow more time for your journey. If you are driving between the M25 and central London, use the M40 and A40 where possible.Customers using buses in the area should allow more time for their journey.
