Southwark church bells have been ringing non-stop for over 24 hours... and staff can't make it stop

Engineers are being scrambled to a south London church where the bells have been sounding non-stop for over 24 hours.
St George the Martyr in Borough High Street has apologised to neighbours as it "desperately" tries to repair a broken clock bell.
As of 10.30am today, the bells were still ringing incessantly. Workers at the church today admitted they were unable to make the noise stop and had to call in experts.

Passers-by said the noise was "like a weird apocalyptic death knell" while increasingly frustrated staff were becoming "hysterical," according to the church's own Twitter feed.
"No our vicar hasn't died... well not until the angry sleepless mob with fire and pitchforks get him,” the church posted online.
