October half term
Don't miss out on our brilliant workshops and events this autumn half term. Watch volcanoes erupt in the wondrous wintry world of Iceland, uncover the spooky science secrets of Halloween and learn how to write computer code that makes a robot obey your commands. Plus, you can take a thrill ride with the Red Arrows, journey into huge 3D worlds at our IMAX theatre, or visit our newest gallery Information Age and learn how today's amazing communication technology came to be.

Enjoy all this and more until 19.00 (last entry 18.15) daily from 24 October - 1 November 2015, except for 28 October when the Museum will close at 18.00 to host our monthly Lates.

In 1938, Mallard set the world record for the fastest ever steam locomotive at 126mph. See the real characters that took part, fly around the engine and experience all the sounds and sights of this amazing record breaking run in our new 3D film.
Our new pop-up Science Museum shop in Kent's Bluewater shopping centre offers you the perfect one stop shop for gifts for all ages. With a visual explosion of gift ideas and the chance to see experiments come alive during half term and at weekends, experience science up close and personal.
Visit our IMAX Theatre this half term to see our Robots 3D film. Find out what it takes to make a humanoid robot - a robot that can do anything we can but without the benefit of a human brain, and discover how close scientists are to replicating some of the particularly challenging human characteristics.
