Collectors Corner - K2 Reclaimed London Telephone Box - Fully Refurbished

Sellers Comments -A STUNNING ORIGINAL K2 TELEPHONE KIOSK. Created in 1926 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott for a GPO completion and chosen by the Royal Fine Arts Commission as the outstanding design, the K2 is the original red telephone kiosk.

It has been an enduring presence at the heart of London, bearing witness through a Blitz, the changes of the Sixties and Royal and State occasions. Its imposing elegance is influenced by the tomb of architect Sir John Soane. Larger and more ornate than later kiosks, the pierced crown and circular vented ceiling show how the practical can also be stylish. Too expensive for national use, the Post Office produced them exclusively for the London area.. All examples still on the street are preserved by order of English Heritage. A fully refurbished k2 telephone box. viewing/collections from se25 (near croydon) delivery can be arranged. Dimensions 3ft.6in x 3ft.6in x 9ft 4in. Weight. 1250kgs
