Regent Street London-Christmas Lights 2012 Switch On.

Winter may be taking hold with its darker mornings and its chilly showers, but that need not dampen our spirits. Waiting right around the corner is Christmas and to remind us of this, the Regent Street Christmas Lights are due to light up on Tuesday 13 November. What’s more, our Team GB heroes will be pushing the ‘on’ switch.

In a new theme this year, the Regent Street Christmas lights promise to capture a romantic nostalgia for a magical Christmas shopping experience. Regent Street will be laced in gold holly and red berry garlands in a nod to the Olympic and Paralympic teams, while gold filigree plaques interspersed along the street will tell the story of the twelve days of Christmas.
This anticipated annual event marks the beginning of the festive season and we can’t wait. Think celebrity guests, Christmas carols and live music performances. The evening’s events and entertainment will begin at 5:30pm, providing ample time to get started on that ever-expanding Christmas shopping list.

Sure to get you into the festive mood, the evening will begin with a choral performance of the '12 days of Christmas’. Then, stars from leading West End show Matilda will follow with upbeat renditions from the musical. Regent Street’s media partner Classic FM will then welcome on stage a host of world-class talent, with presenters John Suchet and Jamie Crick introducing the likes of Tine Ting Helseth and The Masques. The acts will then be followed by a performance by renowned opera singer, Noah Stewart. Then to top it all off, the celebs will be joined on stage by over 30 medal winning Olympic and Paralympic athletes in a spectacular finale to London 2012, complete with fireworks. Star-studded indeed!

Enjoy the countdown to the switch-on then dally under the twinkling lights of Regent Street in full festive mode. With a selection box of flagship stores to pick and choose from, shopping for gifts is made easy. Retailers will be marking the event with various activities held in-store, creating an atmosphere that is sure to re-awaken the Christmas Spirit in all of us.
