Royal Museums Greenwich - August

ROYAL MUSEUMS GREENWICH
Ships, Clocks & Stars - watch the trailer
Our major exhibition follows one of the greatest scientific quests of all time - the search for longitude. The best minds of an age were all attempting to solve the unsolvable and devise a method for accurately navigating at sea. Not only would this reduce the risk of starvation, shipwreck and death it could also ensure fame and fortune, whilst paving the way for the modern world.

Art and Science
Now open
The Art and Science of Explorationlooks at exploration and scientific discovery in the 18th century. Artists accompanied all three of Cook's expeditions to the South Pacific and their portrayals of the new worlds they discovered acted as both scientific records and artistic wonders. Highlights are the two newly acquired Stubbs paintings of a Kangaroo and Dingo which were created after Cook's first Endeavour voyage.
