Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.
Waterloo – Until 17:00 on Sunday 9 December, Baylis Road is closed southbound at the junction of Waterloo Road. This is due to electrical connection works.
Hyde Park – Until 22:00 on Sunday 6 January 2019, large crowds are expected at Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas. This is due to the annual Winter Wonderland event that is taking place at Hyde Park from 10:00 until 22:00 each day, except for Christmas Day. South Carriage Drive will be closed whenever crowds get too large.
Baker Street – From 19:00 on Friday 30 November until 15:00 on Sunday 2 December, Baker Street will be closed to traffic from Marylebone Road to Dorset Street. Baker Street will also be closed to traffic from 19:00 until 06:00 the following morning on Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 December. On Tuesday evening, Baker Street will be closed to traffic from Blandford Street to Fitzhardinge Street. On Wednesday and Thursday evening, Baker Street and Portman Square will be closed to traffic between George Street and Wigmore Street. This is due to carriageway resurfacing works.
Oxford Street – From 19:00 on Friday 30 November until 15:00 on Sunday 2 December, there will be temporary lane closures and road closures in place on Oxford Street, near the junctions with Orchard Street and Portman Street. This is to complete works required for the switch to two-way traffic on Baker Street and Gloucester Place. Temporary changes apply to bus services in the area during these works.
Westminster – From 11:00 until 16:00 on Saturday 1 December, roads will be disrupted in all directions in the Westminster area. This is because a demonstration group will form on Portland Place, before marching to Whitehall via Langham Place, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Coventry Street, Haymarket, Pall Mall East, Cockspur Street and Trafalgar Square.
Twickenham Rugby Stadium – From 12:00 until 19:00 on Saturday 1 December, large crowds are expected in the Twickenham area. This is due to a rugby match between the Barbarians and Argentina, kicking off at 14:30. Traffic levels are expected to increase in the area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A316 Chertsey Road and all roads leading to Twickenham Station and around the stadium. London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed before and after the game to assist with crowd control. Diversions will be in place in the Twickenham area.
Putney – From 09:00 until 17:00 on Sunday 2 December, there will be a contraflow in operation at Lower Richmond Road in both directions, at the junction of Putney High Street. This is due to BT connection works.
Old Street – From Monday 3 December until early 2019, one lane will be suspended on the south east section of Old Street roundabout for utility investigations. This is to prepare for the Old Street roundabout scheme. We are planning advance highway works for the scheme from February 2019 and main works from April 2019. For full details, please visit our Old Street roundabout page.
Wembley Stadium – From 17:00 until 23:59 on Wednesday 5 December, large crowds are expected in the Wembley area.
