Whitechapel Gallery - What's On-line: Colourful animations & new artist films

March marks an exciting moment of hope in the year: spring is just around the corner, Women's History Month is underway and museums and galleries can look forward to a long-awaited reopening here soon.

In this week's newsletter we can't help but spread a bit of this positivity! Emma Talbot, the 8th winner of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, shares her visions of hope on The Piccadilly Lights though four bespoke animations.

The final weeks of Mike Dibb's online retrospective focus on the filmmaker's dynamic interviews with literary giants.

On the blog we celebrate First Thursdays with HOXTON 253, who share an ongoing series of artist takeovers in response to the climate crisis and how creativity can promote change.

Conversation Pieces
Thu 18 March, 7pm | Free

In a very real sense, all Mike Dibb’s films are open conversations with his audiences as much as his subjects. This is certainly the case with his films about writers and writing. Considering the relationship between the text, the film and the life will be award-winning essayist, novelist and campaigner Lisa Appignanesi OBE, in conversation with Mike Dibb himself.
