Get involved in utopian ways of living in the 21st century as the courtyard is filled with contemporary utopian movements from all around the UK. Tuck into tasty food from social enterprise cafes and explore interactive displays, events and activities that look at topics including the environment and city-living, community inclusiveness, fashion and arts and craft practices. An exhibition of art inspired by the master film maker in partnership with Canon

West Wing Galleries, West Wing
A new exhibition, curated by music producer and DJ James Lavelle, featuring a host of contemporary artists, film makers and musicians showcasing works inspired by Stanley Kubrick. Participating artists such as Haroon Mirza and Anish Kapoor have been invited to submit responses to a film, scene, character or theme from the Kubrick archives, shining new perspectives onto the cinematic master’s lifework.

This year Somerset House again plays host to an eclectic and world-class array of headline artists alongside a selection of hotly-tipped emerging acts. Last week we announced our line-up of support acts, with highlights this year including Claudia Kane, Jodie Abacus and Pumarosa. Coveted slots previously filled by some of today’s most exciting artists, they’ll be joining our carefully curated line-up of headline artists.

Back for the summer months, Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens’ al fresco bar at Somerset House offers champagne, cocktails, nibbles, sharing boards and desserts on our 18th century terrace. Enjoy a meal or drink with sweeping views of the Thames towards the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament and the other way to St Paul’s.

Georgiana Houghton: Spirit Drawings

Explore an astonishing series of Victorian watercolours by the long-forgotten spiritualist artist, Georgiana Houghton. Detailed explanations on the back of the works declare that her hand was guided by various spirits, including several Renaissance artists, as well as higher angelic beings.

Learning and Events
This month we take a closer look at the buildings around us in our free family drop in workshop inspired by the London Festival of Architecture and their theme this year of community. Led by Berlin based illustrator Jack Taylor and drawing inspiration from his book Two by Four that looks behind the scenes of a house under construction.
