Dulwich Picture Gallery - Now Open - David Milne: Modern Painting

NOW OPEN
David Milne is one of Canada's greatest modern painters and yet his name is barely known outside his home country. His paintings dazzle with light, yet the use of a pared-back colour palette gives his paintings an expressive intensity, setting him apart from any other artist.

Milne was an adventurous, independent spirit, who rejected the bustling streets of New York in favour of the remote Canadian wilderness. Through periods of intense experimentation, often working in solitude, he developed his own bold modernist language, fusing influences from Monet, Matisse and Cezanne.
In this exhibition, we bring Milne's work back into the spotlight to reveal an artist of true originality and vision.
