The Max Wall Society presents; We Think The World of You (1988), Friday 21st September @ 7:30pm
The Max Wall Society presents a screening of We Think the World of You, the 1988 film based on the novel by J.R. Ackerley, in which he co-stars with Gary Oldman and Alan Bates.
J.R. Ackerley’s semi-autobiographical novel recounts the story of Johnny (Oldman), a young bisexual man who, naving been sent to prison, is forced to leave his beloved Alsatian, Evie, in the care of his down-trodden parents (played by Max Wall and Liz Smith) and older, middle-class former-lover and best friend, Frank (Bates). Frances Barber also stars and the film is directed by Colin Gregg. Hugh Stoddart, who wrote the screenplay, will host a Q&A session after the showing.

Open House Weekend, Saturday 22nd - Sunday 23rd September
Tour our ex-workhouse home! The Cinema Museum is housed in the Master’s House of the former Lambeth Workhouse. Its distinctive and ornate Victorian Gothic architecture (Parris & Aldwinkle, 1871) features polychrome brickwork and contrasting stone and narrow horizontal terracotta panels in dog-tooth pattern.
We will be open from 10.00-17.00 on Saturday and Sunday of the Open House weekend, with last entry at 16.00, and tours of the building at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 on a first come basis.
This is a free event.
An Evening With Barry Cryer, Saturday 22nd September @ 7:30pm
Barry Cryer, a truly outstanding comedy writer and performer who has contributed greatly to the world of entertainment for over fifty years, will be in conversation with Michael Pointon.
Barry will talk about the many comedians he has known and written for over the years as well as his long-running success on BBC Radio’s highest-rated show I’m Sorry, I Haven’t A Clue.
This is a Save The Cinema Museum benefit event.

Misty Moon presents; The Professionals Revisited, Sunday 23rd September @ 2:30pm
After the huge success of The Professionals Book Launch last year Misty Moon is delighted to announce another afternoon celebrating this cult TV series.
Authors of The Professionals book Julian Vogt and Bob Rocca will be selling copies of the celebrated tome which is a must for all fans of the series.
Misty Moon’s MC Linda Regan will be on stage conducting the Q&A with a plethora of actors who have appeared in the programme.
