Welcome back to Strawberry Hill House We are delighted to reopen our castle doors from this Sunday 30 January 2022.  Booking is open for our revised opening days. House and Shop: Sunday - Wednesday, 11am - 4pm Garden and Cafe: Sunday - Thursday, 10am - 4pm This year we have an exciting programme of events, including a Gothic Romance Tour, LGBTQ+ Heritage Tours and back by popular demand, The Great Annual Strawberry Hill Quiz. 2022 also brings three new 'In Focus' displays to the House, all featuring objects and artworks that tell us the extraordinary story of Strawberry Hill and its inhabitants. Our first 'In Focus' of the year commences from 27 March - 8 July, taking visitors on a Grand Tour to Florence. More details on this display and activities coming can be found below. Thank you for your support, Strawberry Hill House & Garden Gothic Romance Tour Monday 14 February at 7pm On the evening of 14 February, immerse yourselves in a world where romantic beauty and gothic fantasy combine, as you take an atmospheric journey into the past, hearing remarkable stories from across the centuries, complete with intrigue, passion, mystery and drama. Book Now LGBTQ+ Heritage Tours Friday 18 & Thursday 24 February from 7pm As part of LGBTQ+ Heritage Month this February, Strawberry Hill is hosting a series of LGBTQ+ tours. Each tour will seek to explore more about Horace Walpole’s sexuality by investigating the correspondence between his network of friends and acquaintances, and how this might inform our interpretation of his house and collection.  Book Now The Great Annual Strawberry Hill Quiz Thursday 3 March at 7.30pm, Doors open from 7pm. The Great Annual Strawberry Hill Quiz continues to raise much needed funds to maintain this Grade I listed building and historic site, as well as supporting our community outreach work. Tickets will be sold for tables of 8 at £20 per head. The price includes bar snacks before the quiz and a Ploughman’s Supper at half time. Wine and other drinks will be available from a cash only donate-as-you-drink bar.   Book Now In Focus: The Grand Tour 27 March - 8 July 2022 Our next display takes visitors on The Grand Tour, with a virtual visit to one of the most beautiful and beguiling cities on earth, Florence. Walpole was fascinated by Florence and the Medici family. Strawberry Hill contained a conspicuous number of Florentine works of art received as gifts or acquired thanks to the intervention of his friend Horace Mann. Our latest ‘In Focus’ display brings back some of these magnificent treasures.
