Don't miss the world premiere of Sebastião Salgado’s photographic exhibition Genesis opening this month.
The culmination of eight years’ work, this exhibition, with more than 200 spectacular black-and-white photographs, draws together landscapes and wildlife images alongside those of human communities that continue to live in accordance with ancestral traditions.

When a whale dies, its rotting remains sink to the sea floor and become a habitat for all sorts of creatures. Only six natural whale-falls have ever been spotted but a team of scientists, including Museum marine biologist Diva Amon, have now discovered one in Antarctica quite by chance. Nine new species have been identified around it and the remains have provided clues about the biodiversity of the deep dark sea.

Sensational Butterflies is now open
Experience the magic of walking among hundreds of free-flying tropical butterflies in our new exhibition on the Museum's east lawn. Dive into our tropical butterfly house to try your hand at fun games and exciting activities as you find out about one of the planet’s most amazing life cycles.

Spring Wildlife Day
Spring is finally here and the Museum's Wildlife Garden is waking up. Celebrate by joining in with workshops, garden tours and crafts.
Highlights include discovering how to attract butterflies and bees to your garden, learning about pond life and amphibians, and wildlife-inspired crafts.

Go beyond dodos and dinosaurs to explore the crucial role extinction can play in the evolution of life.Astonishing images, real specimens and interactive installations bring to life some amazing lost species and highlight those endangered today.

Archie the giant squid
Embark on a Spirit Collection tour to see hidden treasures such as our giant squid, affectionately known as Archie. Get a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse of the 27 kilometres of shelves, 2 million specimens and cutting-edge scientific research in the Darwin Centre’s zoology spirit building.
