“This week’s hottest art event”, Time Out
Pick Me Up is back this year with a bigger and better programme of events, workshops and star guests from the world of graphic arts. Don’t miss your chance to buy affordable, original and limited edition works from the industries elite and emerging talent.
Pick Me Up Selects
International rising stars of the graphic arts world, specially selected by an industry panel, will be producing new, exclusive work to see and buy.
Collectives & Galleries
We have invited the most innovative graphic art collectives, galleries and organisations to design site-specific spaces to exhibit, make and sell artworks, offering visitors a chance to experience the behind-the-scenes atmosphere of a creative studio.
Children’s Choice Weekend
From 20 – 21 April, the Children’s Choice Weekend will see Shaun the Sheep model-making workshops with animators from the award-winning Aardmanstudio and family-fun activities with famed illustrator of the Gruffalo, Axel Scheffler.
Dedicated to day-long projects from a selection of specially invited heroes and legends of the graphic arts world, including one of the Evening Standard’s Top 20 Rising Stars of 2013, Zoom Rockman, recreating a life-size scene from his own comic books on 28 April.
Creative workshops, music, portfolio reviews, show and tell and much more.... Don’t miss a world record attempt to create the longest single frame cartoon by Modern Toss, the comedy cartoonists behind the cult Channel 4 series of the same name, plus a late-night music and art mash-up from Heavy Pencil.
Talks & Screenings
A programme of talks and screenings including a chance to hear about Royal Mail’s ambitious project to design a series of 30 special stamps, representing every sport in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Talks and screenings are ticketed separately.
Get involved with the Pick Me Up artists with a jam packed schedule of Q&As, hijacks and much more, perfect whether you’re at the festival or not. You’ll never watch the BBC’s The Voice in the same way again after Modern Toss’ Live Photo Booth.
