Only in England: Photographs by Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr
Opens 21 September 2013
"My aim is to communicate something of the spirit and mentality of the English, their habits and their way of life, the ironies that exist in the way they do things" Tony Ray-Jones.

This major new exhibition brings together the work of Martin Parr and Tony Ray-Jones, two photographers united by their fascination with English eccentricities and social customs. Ray-Jones’s work had a profound influence on Martin Parr, who has now made a new selection from the National Media Museum's Ray-Jones archive including over 50 previously unseen photographs, displayed alongside Parr's rarely seen black and white work from the 1970s, The Non-Conformists.
