Join Open House London's Architecture on the Thames Central with special guest speaker Ian Simpson from Simpson Haugh Architects - Saturday 28 September, 12 midday from Crown Pier

This afternoon tour along the River Thames surveys the landmark architecture of central London’s embankments and the skyline beyond with a special focus on the work of Simpson Haugh Architects, one of the few British firms to master the art of designing tall buildings.
We’re lucky to have one half of the firm’s founding team, Ian Simson join the tour this time. He will speak alongside regular guide Benedict O'Looney - a practicing architect and a teacher at the prestigious Architectural Association - guarantees deep insight and thoughtful commentary on all aspects of London’s architecture.
Ian Simpson and Rachel Haugh founded their practice over thirty years ago in Manchester. Now with studios in both London and Manchester, their work is centred on a belief that innovative architectural thought has the power to shape and transform our cities. Today they will focus on key Thame-side projects Circus West Village, a sustainable and mixed use place as part of Battersea Station Phase 1 and One Blackfriars, a shimmering façade and new public plaza creating a new gateway to the historic borough of Southwark.

Open House London Building Highlight:
ROCA London Gallery

A unique space where water acts as the architectural theme - offering an innovative and interactive experience with Roca, the global bathroom brand.
The concept for the Roca London Gallery begins with water in its many forms and phases as both an idea to make space and to express our adaptability and openness to change and innovation. Water acts as a theme for the architecture theme, connecting all aspects of the Gallery. The displays and the areas around each display have been shaped by the movement of water. Water has created a changeable space, one which people will continue to return to.
ROCA London Gallery will be open both Saturday and Sunday during Open House with an exhibition through their time. More Information here.

Open House London Building Highlight:
Ivy Conduit

Ancient conduit house built around the beginning of the 16C. Constructed by Cardinal Wolsey to help supply fresh water to Hampton Court Palace.
In the grounds of the school is an ancient Conduit, or well-house, that was built around the beginning of the sixteenth century. It was one of three well-houses constructed in the area by Cardinal Wolsey, to help supply fresh water to Hampton Court Palace. (The Cardinal was reputed to have suffered from ‘stones’, and the excellent fresh water springs on Combe Hill were said to have therapeutic properties.)
