Buses and roads

Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Kensington & Chelsea – From 07:00 on Saturday 10 until 20:00 on Thursday 15 August, Earl's Court Road will be closed southbound between Kensington High Street and Pembroke Road. This is due to gas connection works.

Redbridge - From 08:00 on Saturday 10 until 17:00 Monday 12 August, there will be lane restrictions westbound on the southeastern section of the Redbridge roundabout. From 21:30 until 05:30 on Monday 12, Wednesday 14, Friday 16, Saturday 17, Sunday 18 and Tuesday 20 August, the roundabout will be reduced to a single lane. From 21:30 until 05:30 on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 August, there will be lane restrictions on all approaches. This is due to junction improvement works.

Twickenham Rugby Stadium – From 14:00 to 20:00 on Sunday 11 August, Twickenham Rugby Stadium will be hosting the Quilter International rugby match between England and Wales. Kick off is at 14:00. Large pedestrian numbers are expected in the Twickenham area. Traffic levels are expected to increase in the area in the lead up to the game and after the game has concluded.

Westminster - From 21:00 on Sunday 11 August until Saturday 9 November, Westminster Bridge will be closed to westbound traffic, and Bridge Street will be closed in both directions. During these works, licensed taxis, buses and cyclists will continue to have access to the bridge westbound. Due to these works, delays are expected on the approaches to Westminster Bridge, Parliament Square and within the surrounding area. Using Vauxhall Bridge and the Inner Ring Road south of the river may mean a quicker journey for trips across London. Please visit our website for more information.

Southwark - Until April 2020, construction work will begin to create a continuous segregated cycle route between Tower Bridge and Greenwich. Work will start on the first section through Tooley Street, along Jamaica Road and to Rotherhithe roundabout.

Tooley Street and Jamaica Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Expect delays on these roads, as well as when approaching Rotherhithe roundabout from the A101 Rotherhithe Tunnel and from Lower Road. Buses in the area will maintain their routes, but there may be delays on the following routes – 47, 188, 199, 343, 381, C10, P12, N199 and N381.
