Transport for London - Weekend travel update - 3 and 4 August 2019

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 3 and 4 August, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.

Prudential RideLondon
On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August, the Prudential RideLondon event will return to London. There will be a large number of road closures across the capital over the weekend, especially on Sunday 4 August. Some bus routes will be diverted or stop short of their destination.

We advise you to avoid driving around these areas unless absolutely necessary, and to use the Tube instead. Further information including the routes, road closures and changes to bus services is available on our travel advice page.

London Underground
   
Central line
On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August, there will be no service between North Acton and Ealing Broadway. Additionally, there will be no service between Marble Arch and Ealing Broadway between 01:00 and 04:00 on Saturday 3, during Friday Night Tube. This is due to track works. Rail replacement buses will run between White City and Ealing Broadway from 01:00 until 04:00 on Saturday morning and between North Acton and Ealing Broadway at all other times.
Northern line
Kentish Town station is closed and is planned to re-open on Monday 5 August. This is due to escalator works. Use bus routes 134 or 214 between Kentish Town and Camden Town, or route 134 between Kentish Town and Tufnell Park.
Bakerloo line
On Sunday 4 August, there will be no service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone. This is due to track works. Rail replacement buses will run.

London Overground

Network Rail is carrying out work which will affect the following London Overground services.

On Saturday 3 August, there will be no service between:
  • Camden Road and Willesden Junction after 20:15. Rail replacement buses will run
  • Euston and Kilburn High Road after 20:30. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes
  • Gospel Oak and Barking after 20:15. Rail replacement buses will run between Gospel oak and Seven Sisters (for South Tottenham) and between Walthamstow Central and Barking. Use the Victoria line or local buses between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central
On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) / Chingford. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes between Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters. You can also use Greater Anglia services between Stratford and Cheshunt (for entrance / exit at Stratford, Tottenham Hale and Cheshunt stations only). Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town / Cheshunt, and between Hackney Downs and Chingford.

On Sunday 4 August, there will be no service between Euston and Watford Junction. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes between Euston and Queen's Park. Rail replacement buses will run between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone / Watford Junction.

From Monday 5 until Thursday 8 August, there will be no service between Sydenham and West Croydon after 22:15 each evening. Use Southern Railway or local bus services.

TfL Rail

On Saturday 3 August, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Stratford. This is due to track renewal works. Use Tube or DLR services for travel to / from central London.

Buses and roads

Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Kingsland Road - Until 17:00 on Monday 5 August, Kingsland Road will be closed northbound at the junction of Stamford Road. This is due to road works.

Tower Bridge - Tonight, Thursday 1 and tomorrow, Friday 2 August, Tower Bridge will be closed between 22:00 and 05:00 each night. This is due to maintenance works.

Westminster - From 11:00 today, Thursday 1 August, a large group will form up at Windrush Square in Brixton. From 12:00, they will march to Parliament Square via Brixton Road, Kennington Road, Westminster Bridge Road and Westminster Bridge. They will then hold a rally at Parliament Square before returning to Windrush Square at 18:00 via the same route. There will be road closures along the route and its approaches enforced by the Metropolitan Police.

Seven Sisters - From Sunday 4 until Thursday 29 August, Seven Sisters Road will be closed southbound between Rock Street and Isledon Road every Sunday to Wednesday between 22:00 and 05:00. This is due to overnight Network Rail bridge works.

Wembley Stadium - From 14:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 4 August, Wembley Stadium will be hosting the FA Community Shield football match between Liverpool and Manchester City, with kick off at 15:00. Large crowds and high traffic levels are expected in the Wembley area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected include the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium.

Waterloo Bridge - From midnight on Monday 5 until midnight on Wednesday 7 August, Waterloo Bridge will be closed northbound between York Road (IMAX roundabout) and Strand. This is due to Westminster City Council works.

Horse Guards Road - From 13:00 until 15:00 on Wednesday 7 August, a military parade will form up at Horse Guards Road and will march to City Hall in Victoria Street via Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square and Broad Sanctuary. There will be traffic holds and road closures along the route of the march, enforced by the Metropolitan Police.

  • Claverton Street, Pimlico - due to a power outage

  • Olympia Way, Olympia - due to a power outage
  • Westbourne Park Road, Portobello - due to gas works
  • Sutton Street, Shadwell - due to footway works
  • Addison Road, Holland Park - due to footway works
  • Copper Box, QEOP - for development
  • Rodney Street, Angel - due to health and safety
  • Kennington Lane Tesco, Vauxhall - for development
  • One Tower Bridge, Bermondsey - for Cycleway 4 works
  • Castalia Square, Cubitt Town - for relocation
  • Hammersmith Town Hall, Hammersmith - for development
