The power of a poster: Abram Games and the Army Bureau of Current Affairs

7 August 2019, 6pm - 8.30pm

£12
During the Second World War, iconic graphic artist Abram Games created posters to remind soldiers what it was they were fighting for. Through this work, he offered a glimpse of the improved post-war society they could aspire to.
Join Dr Paul Rennie from Central Saint Martins and curator Emma Mawdsley for an evening exploring Games’s wartime work. Dr Rennie will discuss the posters within their social and military context. He will demonstrate how their themes of education and social progress aligned with military objectives post-1941 and helped transform British society.
