Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 14 and 15 September

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 14 and 15 September, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.

London Underground
   
Piccadilly line
On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between Acton Town and Uxbridge. This is due to track replacement work. Rail replacement buses will run between Acton Town and Rayners Lane, and then between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge.
  
District line
On Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between Turnham Green and Richmond. This is due to Network Rail track maintenance work. Use replacement buses or local bus routes.
  
Metropolitan line
On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge. This is due to track replacement work. Rail replacement buses will run.

London Overground

 
Network Rail is carrying out work which will affect some London Overground services.

On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between:

  • Hackney Downs and Chingford. Rail replacement buses will run
  • New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace / West Croydon. Rail replacement buses will run
On Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between:
  • Willesden Junction and Richmond. Rail replacement buses will run
  • Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction. Trains are diverted to start / terminate at Battersea Park instead of Clapham Junction. Use local buses or Southern Railway services between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction
On Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 September, there will be no southbound service from Sydenham to West Croydon after 23:30 each evening. Please use local buses to complete your journey.

On Monday 16, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 September, there will be no westbound service between Camden Road and Willesden Junction after 23:59. Use local buses to complete your journey.

DLR

 
On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between Bank and Shadwell. This is due to station works at Bank. Use local bus route 15 to change to the District line at Tower Hill, or take the DLR to Tower Gateway and walk to Tower Hill station nearby.
   
TfL Rail

 
On Sunday 15 September, there will be no service between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4 until 08:00. This is due to overhead line work near Southgate station. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes.

Buses and roads

 
Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Heathrow Airport - From 03:00 tomorrow, Friday 13 until 23:59 on Saturday 14 September, a group will form up in the Heathrow Airport area for a demonstration. Delays are expected.

Bishopsgate - From 06:00 on Saturday 14 until 23:59 on Sunday 15 September, Bishopsgate will be closed at the junction of Gracechurch Street between Camomile Street and Fenchurch Street. This is for a crane operation. Threadneedle Street, Cornhill and Leadenhall Street will also be closed. This closure will also take place at the same time on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.

Bermondsey Street - From 06:00 until 23:00 on Saturday 14 September, Bermondsey Street will be closed at the junction of Crucifix Lane and Abbey Street. This is due to a street festival.

Hyde Park - On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, there will be various road closures in the Hyde Park area. West Carriage Drive will be closed all day from 11:00 on Saturday, and from 09:30 on Sunday. South Carriage Drive and the Serpentine and Triangle car parks will be closed from 11:00 on Saturday 14 until 05:00 on Monday 16 September. This is due to a series of concerts. Multiple bus routes travelling through the Hyde Park area will be diverted or stop early.

Covent Garden - From 12:00 until 14:00 on Saturday 14 September, delays are expected in the Covent Garden area. This is due to a procession taking place on Wellington Street at the junction of Thomas Street.

Regent Street - From 08:00 until 20:00 on Sunday 15 September, Regent Street will be closed between Mortimer Street and Piccadilly Circus. This is due to a street festival. Bus routes 94 and 159 will stop early during the festival, while the following bus routes will be on diversion: 22, 55, 73, 88, 94, 139, 159, 453.

A20 Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich - From Monday 16 until Saturday 28 September, there will be a series of overnight closures on the A20 in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich between the M25 junction and the A205 Westhorne Avenue. Works will take place between 22:00 and 05:00 each night, except Sunday 22 September.

From Monday 16 until Saturday 21 September, the closure will affect westbound traffic only. From Monday 23 until Saturday 28 September, the closure will affect eastbound traffic only. Santander Cycles
The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:
  • Pall Mall East, West End - due to a power outage 
  • Sackville Street, Mayfair - due to a power outage
  • Walmer Road, Notting Hill - due to gas works
  • Macclesfield Road, St Luke's - due to footway works
  • One Tower Bridge, Bermondsey - for Cycleway 4 works
  • Winsland Street, Paddington - for development works
  • Lancaster Gate, Bayswater - due to utility works, from Monday 16 September
