Nero: the man behind the myth Until 24 October Nero is known as one of Rome’s most infamous rulers, notorious for his cruelty and debauchery. He ruled at a time of great social and political change, overseeing momentous events such as the Great Fire of Rome and Boudica’s rebellion in Britain. Hokusai: The Great Picture Book of Everything Opens 30 September Our upcoming exhibition shines a light on the last chapter of Hokusai’s career and life – during which he made works including The Great Wave. By taking a closer look at 103 incredibly rare and recently rediscovered drawings made in the 1820s–40s, the exhibition takes you into the artist’s world and offers new insight about early 19th-century Japan.
