Hokusai: The Great Picture Book of Everything

Opens 30 September

Our upcoming exhibition shines a light on the last chapter of Hokusai’s career and life – during which he made works including The Great Wave.

By taking a closer look at 103 incredibly rare and recently rediscovered drawings made in the 1820s–40s, the exhibition takes you into the artist’s world and offers new insight about early 19th-century Japan.

Learn the intriguing story behind these drawings and the cultural and political backdrop against which they were created with curator Tim Clark.
