Weekend travel information

Dear Mr Grantham,

If you are out and about this weekend, please note that there are planned closures taking place on certain parts of the network.

We strongly encourage customers to wear face coverings on our services and stations unless exempt.

Our enhanced cleaning regime continues to make the network cleaner than ever, with more than 1,100 hand sanitisers installed across the network and at least 200 UV light devices continually sanitising escalator handrails.

The information in this email could possibly change, so please check before you travel or use the TfL Go app to plan your journey.

National Rail

No Southern rail or Gatwick Express services from Victoria

During Network Rail re-signalling work, there will be no Southern rail or Gatwick Express services to/from Victoria on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April. For East Croydon and stations between Gatwick Airport and Brighton, use Thameslink services from Blackfriars. Use Southern rail services from London Bridge for other destinations.

Thameslink and Southern tickets will be accepted on the Tube between Victoria and Blackfriars/London Bridge/Balham. There is no Northern line service through London Bridge until mid-May, so please use alternative Tube, rail or local bus services.

For local journeys a replacement bus service will be running. Southeastern services will be operating from Victoria as usual. To plan your journey, visit the National Rail website.

Buses and roads

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Tuesday 12 April

From 05:00 on Tuesday 12 April, work to install the overheight barrier on the southern approach to Rotherhithe Tunnel will be complete and the barriers on both sides will be in operation.

When driving through, if the warning bells on the barriers indicate your vehicle is too high, there are escape lanes in place on both sides which will allow you to divert. Please visit our website for details on the restrictions and use alternative routes such as the Blackwall Tunnel or Tower Bridge to complete your journey.

Until summer 2022

A41 Edgware Way

From 1 April until summer 2022, we will be undertaking repair works on the A41 Edgware Way bridge over the M1, next to Apex Corner.

This will involve closures in alternating directions on the A41 and lane closures on the M1. Buses in the area will be affected with delays, bus stop closures and some routes on diversion. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.

Visit our website for more information.

Until June 2022

Until June 2022, weekend closures of the A40 Westway will change to affect westbound traffic while we carry out essential maintenance work. Plan ahead and check before you travel. For more details, visit our A40 Westway travel advice page
