Weekend travel information


If you are out and about over the long Easter weekend there are lots of public transport options. Here are the details of planned works to help you plan your journey. 

We strongly encourage customers to wear face coverings on our services and stations unless exempt.

Our enhanced cleaning regime continues to make the network cleaner than ever, with more than 1,100 hand sanitisers installed across the network and at least 200 UV light devices continually sanitising escalator handrails.

The information in this email could possibly change, so please check before you travel or use the TfL Go app to plan your journey. 
 

National Rail

No Southern rail or Gatwick Express services from Victoria

During Network Rail re-signalling work, there will be no Southern rail or Gatwick Express services to/from Victoria between Friday 15 and Monday 18 April. 

For East Croydon and stations between Gatwick Airport and Brighton, use Thameslink services from Blackfriars. Use Southern rail services from London Bridge for other destinations.

Thameslink and Southern tickets will be accepted on the Tube between Victoria and Blackfriars/London Bridge/Balham. There is no Northern line service through London Bridge until mid-May, so please use alternative Tube, rail or local bus services.

For local journeys a replacement bus service will be running. Southeastern services are not affected by these works. To plan your journey, visit the National Rail website.

Euston National Rail station 

The station will be closed between Friday 15 and Monday 18 April. Check the National Rail Enquiries website for details.

London Underground

 

Tube strikes — until Sunday 19 June

There is planned strike action every Friday and Saturday night on the Central and Victoria lines between 20:30 and 04:29 the following morning until Sunday 19 June. Normal services are expected on the Victoria line, while we expect the Central line to run a regular service through central London, with at least two trains per hour.

District line

Friday 15 until Monday 18 April

No service between Tower Hill and West Ham, and between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia)

Use alternative Tube, rail, local or replacement bus services.

Sunday 17 April

No service between Turnham Green and Richmond

A rail replacement bus service will run.

     

Hammersmith & City line

Friday 15 until Monday 18 April

No service on the entire line

Use alternative Tube, rail, local or replacement bus services.

     

Metropolitan line

Friday 15 April

Special service on the line

We are running a special service on the Metropolitan line on Friday 15 April, and on weekdays, after a fault was identified with some of the wheels on a number of Metropolitan line trains.

A normal weekend service will be running as usual. You can find more details of the Metropolitan line weekend service on our website

The following timetable will continue on weekdays:
  • Amersham to Baker Street - every 30 minutes in both directions
  • Chesham to Baker Street - every 30 minutes in both directions
  • Uxbridge to Aldgate - every 15 minutes in both directions
  • Watford to Baker Street - every 15 minutes in both directions

     

Northern line

Friday 15 and Saturday 16 April

No service between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station, and between Euston and Stockwell (via Bank)

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. 

Until mid-May 2022

No service between Kennington and Moorgate

During this time, many stations and lines in central London will be much busier and you may have to make changes to the way you travel. Visit our website for more information.

     

Piccadilly line

Friday 15 until Monday 18 April

No service between Acton Town and Heathrow, and between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge

Use TfL Rail from Paddington or the replacement bus or coach service.

Until spring 2022

Piccadilly trains will not stop at South Kensington

The Circle and District lines will continue to stop and the station will remain open.  Find out more  information and travel advice.

London Overground

Friday 15 until Monday 18 April

No service between Kilburn High Road and Euston

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes.

Sunday 17 April

No service between Willesden Junction and Richmond

A rail replacement bus service will run.

No service between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town /Cheshunt/Chingford until 10:15

Use alternative Tube, local bus routes or rail replacement bus services.

Monday 18 until Thursday 21 April

No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town /Cheshunt after 22:45 each night

Use alternative Tube, local bus routes or rail replacement bus services.

Tuesday 19 until until Thursday 21 April

No service between Sydenham and West Croydon after 23:30 each night

Use local bus routes or the rail replacement bus service. 

DLR

Friday 15 until Sunday 17 April

No service between Prince Regent and Beckton

A rail replacement bus service will run.

Buses and roads

 

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

 

Saturday 16 April

Trafalgar Square

The Vaisakhi Festival will take place this Saturday in Trafalgar Square from 13:00 to 18:00. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Wembley Stadium

The FA Cup semi-final between Manchester City and Liverpool will take place this Sunday. Kick off is at 15:30. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected. Check before you travel as the network could be busier. Alternative routes, including Jubilee line services and Chiltern Railways will also be running to Wembley.

Sunday 17 April

Wembley Stadium

The FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Crystal Palace will take place this Sunday. Kick off is at 16:30. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected. Check before you travel as the network could be busier. Alternative routes, including Jubilee line services and Chiltern Railways will also be running to Wembley.

Tuesday 19 April until Tuesday 31 May 

A3 Kingston Bypass closures

From Tuesday 19 April until Tuesday 31 May, there will be a series of overnight lane closures of the A3 Kingston Bypass between Hook Underpass and Robin Hood Way while we carry out essential maintenance.

Work will take place from 22:00 until 05:00 Monday to Friday with northbound lane restrictions from the A3 Hook Underpass taking place first. This will be followed by southbound lane restrictions from Robin Hood Way. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times. While the work takes place you are advised to plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. For information on how roads are operating in your area, please check before you travel.

Until summer 2022

A41 Edgware Way

Until summer 2022, we will be undertaking repair works on the A41 Edgware Way bridge over the M1, next to Apex Corner.

This will involve closures in alternating directions on the A41 and lane closures on the M1. Buses in the area will be affected with delays, bus stop closures and some routes on diversion. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.
