What's On for Families in the Summer Holidays
Summer holidays are here at the Horniman with great activities every day. Families can explore the Museum's objects, hunt for minibeasts, go on a storytelling tour with Mr Horniman and much more. See the full listings on our website.
Big Wednesdays
Every Wednesday
11am – 3.30pm

Free day-long activities every Wednesday. Join us for the Big Butterfly Count on 22 July, experience music, dance and animations inspired by Africa and its Diaspora in African Summer on 29 July, 12, 19 and 26 August, and explore the world of play at our Play Day on 5 August.

Pond Dipping and Minibeast Safari
Mondays and Thursdays, 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm

Explore the summer environment in our Nature Trail. Join us for pond dipping on Thursdays or search for mini-beasts in the meadow and log pile habitats on Mondays.

Come and find out about the stories behind the African objects in our collections with curators, experts and musicians. See our magnificent bead collection, listen to the African harp being played and more. There are also sessions for adults every Tuesday at 3.30pm.

Explore the wonderful world of plants on a massive scale in our interactive family exhibition. From exploding cucumbers to a huge crawl-through root system, this interactive exhibition will bring visitors up close to all kinds of fantastic plant life.
