London Design Biennale 2016
Book now for London’s major new design event taking over the whole of Somerset House in September. Austria - mischertraxler studio LeveL
Austria
mischertraxler
mischertraxler’s large-scale kinetic lighting installation is set in motion by the smallest changes to the air current around it. Its form unwittingly created by the viewers’ movements to produce a state of constant flux that is both graceful and chaotic.
Israel - Aid Drop Yaniv Kadosh ACT Shenkar ┬ ®SashaFlit
Israel
ACT Shenkar
ACT Shenkar presents two innovative projects: a device for parachuting supplies into disaster areas, and Louder, a pair of speakers designed for deaf people, one a floor surface that transmits vibrations felt through the feet and the other a visual speaker with textures that move in response to rhythms and beats.
South Africa - Porky Hefer: Pelicanus Iris - Image © Adriaan Louw
South Africa
Porky Hefer
Porky Hefer will be exhibiting his signature hanging constructions that are both working seats and fantastical creatures. Hefer’s playful nests are symptomatic of a new era in South African design that is built around themes of equality and unity.
Albania ® Helidon Xhixha
Albania
Helidon Xhixha
Helidon Xhixha’s installation takes the Renaissance city layout – built around a central core – as its starting point.  Using his trademark reflective surfaces, the installation is a space for both interaction and personal reflection (literal and metaphorical), highlighting the need for a cohesive society in the midst of a migration crisis.
USA - Installation view of Immersion Room - Photo Matt Flynn ® 2014 CooperHewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
USA
Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
Cooper Hewitt’s immersion room will envelop you in a truly sensory and interactive experience using digital pens. Visitors will be able create their own personal utopias in this 360 degree installation.
