Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 15 and 16 June, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.
 
 
 
London Underground
 
   
Circle line
On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, there will be no service between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria. This is due to line modernisation work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes. 
 
District line
On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, there will be no service between Aldgate East / Edgware Road and Ealing Broadway / Kensington (Olympia) / Richmond / Wimbledon. There will also be no service between Edgware Road and Kensington (Olympia). This is due to line modernisation work. Use alternative Tube, London Overground or local bus routes.

London Overground
 

 
Until further notice (except during planned line closures), there is a reduced service every day between Gospel Oak and Barking. This is due to a lack of available trains. Trains will run about every 30 minutes.

However, our new trains are gradually starting to provide additional services, resulting in an increased frequency at certain times of day. For train times, please check National Rail Enquiries on the day of travel.

From 23:45 tomorrow, Friday 14 June, there will be no southbound service from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use local buses via any reasonable route.

On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, there will be no service between:
  • Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work. Replacement buses will run. Alternatively, use local buses via any reasonable route
  • Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) / Chingford. This is due to Network Rail track and infrastructure work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes between Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters. Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town / Cheshunt and between Hackney Downs and Chingford. Alternatively, use Greater Anglia services (entrance / exit at Stratford, Tottenham Hale or Cheshunt stations only)
From 23:45 on Wednesday 19 until Thursday 20 June, there will be no southbound service from Sydenham to West Croydon. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use local buses via any reasonable route.
 
 
 
TfL Rail
 

 
On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Stratford. This is due to track renewal works. Use Tube or DLR services for travel to / from central London.

Buses and roads
 

 
Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Chelsea - From 10:00 on Friday 14 until 16:30 on Sunday 16 June, Gunter Grove will have a lane restriction northbound at the junction of Edith Terrace. Lane one of two will be closed for Thames Water works.

Strand - From 06:00 until 20:00 on Saturday 15, Sunday 23, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June, A4 Strand will be closed westbound at the junction of Lancaster Place (Waterloo Bridge). Additionally, Strand westbound and Lancaster Place northbound will be reduced to a single lane on approach. This is due to a crane operation.

Southwark Bridge Road - From 06:00 on Saturday 15 until 22:00 on Sunday 16 June, Southwark Bridge Road will be closed in both directions between Sumner Street and Southwark Street. This is due to a crane operation. This closure will also occur at the same time on 20 and 21 July.

Highgate - From 07:00 on Saturday 15 until 19:00 on Saturday 29 June, Archway Road will be reduced to a single lane in both directions beneath Hornsey Lane (Archway Bridge). From Saturday 15 until Tuesday 18 June, there will be a lane restriction southbound. From Tuesday 18 until Thursday 20 June, there will be a lane restriction northbound. This is due to maintenance works.

Oval Cricket Ground - From 08:30 until 20:30 on Saturday 15 June, The Oval will be hosting the Cricket World Cup match between Sri Lanka and Australia, with start of play at 10:30. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected in the area.

Moorgate - From 09:00 until 15:00 on Saturday 15 June, A501 Moorgate will be closed northbound between London Wall and South Place. This is due to utility works.

Central London - From 08:30 until 16:00 on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, Fleet Street will be closed eastbound between Chancery Lane and Fetter Lane. This is due to a crane operation.

Westminster - From 14:30 until 18:30 on Saturday 15 June, there will be delays along Hamilton Place, Temple Place, Piccadilly, St James Street, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Bridge Street and Embankment. This is due to a procession.

South West London - From 05:00 until 15:00 on Sunday 16 June, there will be various road closures across south west London. From 05:00 until 11:45, Burntwood Lane and Beechcroft Road will be closed. From 05:30 until 11:45, Alderbrook Road, Clapham Common West Side, Nightingale Lane, Nightingale Walk, Sumburgh Road and Thurleigh Road will be closed. There will also be various road closures in the Carshalton and Banstead areas for safety reasons. This is due to a cycling event. The Metropolitan Police will have short traffic holds in place along the cycling route to allow participants through major road junctions. Expect large numbers of cyclists in the area. Delays are expected.

Westminster - From 11:00 until 17:00 on Sunday 16 June, the following roads and their approaches will be closed: South Carriage Drive, Park Lane, Achilles Way, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Coventry Street, Haymarket, Pall Mall East, Shaftesbury Avenue westbound, Piccadilly Underpass eastbound and Trafalgar Square.

  • Dock Street. Wapping, part-suspended for gas works
  • Claverton Street, Pimlico, due to power outages
  • Monier Road, Hackney Wick, due to power outages
  • Butler Place, Westminster, due to power outages
  • Olympia Way, Olympia, due to power outages
  • Stonecutter Street, Holborn, for public realm improvements
  • Cardinal Place, Victoria, removed due to building works
  • Rodney Street, Angel, for health and safety
  • Portugal Street, Holborn, for building works
  • Whiteley's, Bayswater, for building works
