Celebrate summer with us at welcoming events for all ages!

Join us for an exciting season of creative and inspiring events! Meet us on the front lawns for free, fun family activities that celebrate kindness, enjoy a fast and fantastic Pecha Kucha, and be entertained by fabulous, free performances of a Steam Punk Great Expectations and a brilliant Youth Voice Festival.
Pecha Kucha: Transformations

Restored almshouse tours

Tour our evocative restored almshouse and find out about the lives of its poor and elderly residents in the 18th and 19th centuries. Handling tours: Saturdays 3, 17 & 31 August.

Free Theatre UK will be adding a steam punk spin to this Dickens’ classic! Bring your friends and family and enjoy free theatre in our beautiful gardens – a summer treat for all ages.                                                                                             
Great Expectations for beginners
Saturdays 10 August, 17 August, 24 August and 31 August 12pm - 1pm. Free
A chance for people of all ages to meet the cast, learn about the Great Expectations story and history, and discover some of the skills they use in the performance. Stay for a picnic and watch the afternoon show.

Youth Voice Festival
Saturday 31 August, 12 - 4pm

Come and join us for the Youth Voice festival, designed by and for young people!
Take part in art workshops, work alongside young artists and talk about what activities and opportunities for young people you would like to see at the museum.

Hard-hat tours of work-in-progress on our exciting development project. Join Wright & Wright Architects and exhibition designers ZMMA for a glimpse into the new museum spaces and hear how the museum is changing. Book tickets.
