Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 27 and 28 July 2019

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 27 and 28 July, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.
 
 
 
 
London Underground
 
             
Circle line
From Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 July, there will be no service between Hammersmith and Tower Hill (via King's Cross St Pancras). This is due to track replacement work.
   
Hammersmith & City line
From Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 July, there will be no service between King's Cross St Pancras and Barking. This is due to track replacement work.
 
Metropolitan line
From Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 July, there will be no service between King's Cross St Pancras and Aldgate. This is due to track replacement work.

London Overground
 

 
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July, there will be no trains between:
  • Camden Road and Willesden Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run
  • Gospel Oak and Barking. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run between Gospel Oak and Seven Sisters (for South Tottenham) and between Walthamstow Central and Barking. Use the Victoria line or local buses between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central
  • Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) / Chingford. This is due to Network Rail track and infrastructure work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes between Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters. You can also use Greater Anglia services between Stratford and Cheshunt (for entrance / exit at Stratford, Tottenham Hale and Cheshunt stations only). Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town / Cheshunt, and between Hackney Downs and Chingford
  • Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction on Saturday after 23:30 (no southbound service) and on Sunday until 12:00 (no service in both directions). This is due to Network Rail track work. Trains will be diverted to start / terminate at Battersea Park. Use local bus or Southern services between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction
 
 
 
DLR
 

 
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July, trains will not stop at Custom House station. This is due to station works. Customers are advised to use either Royal Victoria or Prince Regent stations.
         
 
 
TfL Rail
 

 
On Saturday 27 July, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Stratford. This is due to track renewal works. Use Tube or DLR services for travel to / from central London.

Buses and roads
 

 
Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

King's Road - Until 16:00 tomorrow, Friday 26 July, Kings Road will have temporary traffic signals in place in both directions at the junction of Langton Street. This is due to Thames Water works.

Clapham - Until 23:59 on Friday 2 August, Long Road will be closed eastbound at the junction of Clapham Common South Side. There will also be a lane four closure on Clapham Common South Side, and a contraflow on Long Road at the junction of Clapham Common South Side. This is due to Thames Water works.

Oxford Street - Until 16:00 on Saturday 17 August, Oxford Street will be closed westbound between Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus. This is due to borough works.

Redbridge - Until Monday 2 September, the eastbound slip road exit at Charlie Browns roundabout will be reduced from three lanes to two. Delays are expected, so check before you travel and leave more time for your journey. Check our status updates for real time information. This is due to Highways England maintenance works for the viaduct.

Parliament Square - From 14:30 until 19:30 today, Thursday 25 July, a group will form up for a rally at Parliament Square. Delays are expected.

ExCeL Centre - From 05:00 until 19:00 on Saturday 27 July, the first day of the London Triathlon will be taking place around the ExCeL Centre. There will be road closures between Gallions Reach roundabout and Leamouth roundabout including Lower Lea Crossing, Royal Albert Way eastbound and roads around the ExCeL Centre. Lane two on Royal Albert Way eastbound will remain closed all weekend. Expect delays in the area.

Central and east London - From 12:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 28 July, the second day of the London Triathlon will be taking place across east London. Road closures will be in place along the route and its approaches from 05:00 including Royal Albert Way eastbound, roads around the ExCeL Centre, Lower Lea Crossing, East India Dock Tunnel, Aspen Way, Limehouse Link Tunnel, The Highway, Upper and Lower Thames Streets, and Victoria Embankment. All roads west of Tower Bridge will reopen by 14:00. The remaining roads between Leamouth roundabout and Gallions Reach roundabout will reopen at 18:00.

Piccadilly - From 08:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 28 July, Piccadilly will be closed westbound between Piccadilly Circus and Duke Street St James's. This closure will also take place on Sunday 4 and Sunday 11 August. This is due to a crane operation.

Islington – From Sunday 28 July until Thursday 29 August, there will be a series of Sunday to Thursday overnight southbound closures of the Seven Sisters Road Bridge in Islington. Works will take place from 22:00 to 05:00 each night. There will be no restrictions on Friday and Saturday nights or during the day and Thursday night works will be complete by 05:00 on Fridays. You are advised to follow the official signed diversion along Blackstock Road, St Paul’s Road and Holloway Road for the quickest and easiest journey. These are essential maintenance works being carried out by the London Borough of Islington.

Kingsland Road - From 08:00 on Monday 29 July until 17:00 on Monday 5 August, Kingsland Road will be closed northbound at the junction of Stamford Road. This is due to road works.

A2 Bexley and Greenwich - From Monday 29 July until 23 August, there will be a series of closures on the A2 each week night from 22:00 until 05:00, between Dartford Heath slip road exit, Westhorne Avenue and Blackwall Lane. There will be no restrictions at weekends. Follow the signed diversion routes along the M25, A20 Sidcup Bypass and A205 Westhorne Avenue to rejoin the A2. These works are for essential maintenance and safety improvements.

Tower Bridge - From Tuesday 30 July until Friday 2 August, Tower Bridge will be closed each night between 22:00 and 05:00. This is due to maintenance works.

  • Claverton Street, Pimlico - due to a power outage
  • Olympia Way, Olympia  - due to a power outage
  • Westbourne Park Road, Portobello - for gas works
  • Rathbone Street, Fitzrovia – for filming (Sunday after 1800 only)
  • Worship Street, Liverpool Street – for resurfacing works (Saturday only)
  • Chancery Lane, Holborn – for filming
  • Copper Box Arena, QEOP - for development
  • Rodney Street, Angel - due to health and safety
  • One Tower Bridge, Bermondsey - for Cycleway 4 works
