Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 20 and 21 July 2019

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 20 and 21 July, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.
 
 
 
 
London Underground
 
             
Circle line
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, there will be no service on the entire line. This is due to track replacement work. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.
 
District line
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, there will be no service between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road, and between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia). This is due to track replacement work. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.
  
Hammersmith & City line
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, there will be no service between Moorgate and Hammersmith. This is due to track replacement work. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.
 
Metropolitan line
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, there will be no service between Aldgate and Wembley Park. This is due to track replacement work. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.

London Overground
 

 
Today, Thursday 18 July, there will be no service between:
  • Hackney Downs and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) after 22:45. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run
  • Sydenham and West Croydon after 22:15 due to Network Rail track work. Use Southern services between Sydenham and Norwood Junction. Rail replacement buses will run between Norwood Junction and West Croydon
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) / Chingford. This is due to Network Rail track and infrastructure work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes between Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters.

You can also use Greater Anglia services between Stratford and Cheshunt (for entrance / exit at Stratford, Tottenham Hale and Cheshunt stations only). Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town / Cheshunt, and between Hackney Downs and Chingford.
 
On Sunday 21 July, there will be no service between:
  • Willesden Junction and Richmond until 11.30am, owing to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run between Willesden Junction and Gunnersbury. Use the District line between Gunnersbury and Richmond
  • Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush until 11:30. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use local buses 220 or 228
  • Camden Road and Willesden Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run
  • Sydenham and Crystal Palace. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run between Crystal Palace and Norwood Junction
  • Gospel Oak and Barking. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run between Gospel Oak and Seven Sisters (for South Tottenham) and between Walthamstow Central and Barking. Use the Victoria line or local buses between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central
 
 
 
DLR
 

 
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July:
  • There will be no service from Bank and Tower Gateway to Canning Town and Canary Wharf. This is due to track works. Rail replacement buses will run between Tower Gateway and Canning Town via Canary Wharf
  • There will be no service from Stratford to Canary Wharf. This is due to track works. Use local bus route 108, which will run at an enhanced frequency. Alternatively, use Tube services at Stratford or Canary Wharf
   
 
 
London Trams
 

 
On Sunday 21 July, Trams will not run between East Croydon and Reeves Corner in both directions until 12:00 midday. This is due to signalling work. Customers are advised to use local buses.  
      
 
 
TfL Rail
 

 
On Saturday 20 July, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Stratford. This is due to track renewal works. Use Tube or DLR services for travel to / from central London.

Buses and roads
 

 
Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Southwark - From 17:00 until 20:00 today, Thursday 18 July, a group will form up at Tooley Street in all directions and Potters Fields areas. This is due to a demonstration.

Westminster - From 11:00 until 18:00 tomorrow, Friday 19 July, a group will form up at Parliament Square. This is due to a demonstration.

Kensington & Chelsea – From 12:30 until 14:30 tomorrow, Friday 19 July, a group will form up at Derry Street by Northcliffe House. This is due to a demonstration.

Moorgate – From 19:00 on Friday 19 until 18:00 on Sunday 21 July, Moorgate will be closed between South Place and Lothbury in both directions. London Wall will also be closed in both directions between Aldersgate Street and Old Broad Street. This is due to road resurfacing works.

Southbound traffic from Moorgate will be diverted via South Place, Eldon Street, Blomfield Street, London Wall, Old Broad Street and Threadneedle Street (the no right turn restriction from London Wall eastbound into Old Broad Street southbound will be lifted to facilitate this diversion).

Northbound traffic will be diverted via Mansion House Street, Poultry, Cheapside, Newgate Street, King Edward Street, Little Britain, Montague Street, Aldersgate Street, Beech Street & Chiswell Street.

Eastbound traffic from London Wall will be diverted via St Martin’s Le Grand, Cheapside, Poultry, Mansion House Street, Threadneedle Street & Old Broad Street. Westbound traffic will be diverted via Old Broad Street, Threadneedle Street, Mansion House Street, Poultry, Cheapside, Newgate Street, King Edward Street, Little Britain & Montague Street.

Old Street - From 08:00 on Saturday 20 until 18:00 on Sunday 21 July, there will be temporary signals in place at junction of Charlotte Rd. This is due to utility works.

Fleet Street – From 08:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 20 July, Fleet Street will be closed in all directions at the junction of Bouverie Street. This is due to maintenance works.

Westminster – From 11:00 until 18:00 on Saturday 20 July, a group will form up from midday on Park Lane and at 13:00 march to Parliament Square via Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, St James's Street, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, King Charles II Roundabout, Whitehall and Parliament Street before holding a rally in Parliament Square. This is due to a demonstration. There will be temporary traffic holds and closures. Road users are advised to expect delays in the area.

Westminster – From 05:00 until 16:00 on Sunday 21 July, there will road closures in the Westminster area. This is due to an event. The road closures will be implemented in stages from Victoria Street in the south, the Aldwych in the east, Regent Street to the north and Piccadilly in the west to facilitate the route. From 05:30, Piccadilly will be closed in both directions between Hyde Park Corner and Piccadilly Circus. From 06:00, Whitehall will be closed between Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square. All remaining closures will be implemented at 07:00 and removed by 15:00. In addition, from Saturday 20 until Sunday 21 July, Waterloo Place will be closed. This is to facilitate operations for the event.

Regent Street – From 08:00 until 20:00 on Sunday 21 July, Regent Street will be closed between Mortimer Street and Piccadilly Circus. This is due to a festival.

Farringdon – From 15:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 21 July, Clerkenwell Road will be closed at the junction of Farringdon Road in all directions. This is due to a procession. There will be localised closures and traffic holds while the procession travels westbound from Clerkenwell Road to northbound Roseberry Avenue to southbound Farringdon Road before returning to Clerkenwell Road at the junction with Back Hill. Back Hill will remain closed for the duration of the event.

Tower Hamlets – From 05:00 on Monday 22 July until 17:00 on Monday 9 September, Cotton Street will be closed at the junction of Poplar High Street in all directions. This is due to utility works. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation.

Oxford Street – From 08:00 on Wednesday 24 July until Saturday 17 August, Oxford Street will be closed westbound between Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus. This is due to borough works.

The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:
  • Pall Mall East, Whitehall Place, Green Park Station, Embankment (Savoy), Somerset House and Waterloo Place, for the ASICS 10K run on Sunday 21 July
  • Rodney Street, Angel, for health and safety reasons
  • Cardinal Place, Victoria, removed due to building works
  • Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, for development
  • Whiteley's, Bayswater, for building works
  • Grant Road Central and West, Clapham Junction, for development
