We have lots of fun activities and attractions to help you explore the Museum and Gardens this month.
Discover the outdoors with an autumn welly walk on the Nature Trail, visit the tropical Butterfly House, and get in a last round of Plonk crazy golf.
In the Museum you can enjoy a new exhibition by artist Katie Schwab and local community members, plus free displays by Claire Morgan and Jide Odukoya.
Every Thursday afternoon, there are in performances in the Music Gallery and a new series of activities for older adults.
Families can take part in exciting activities every day during half term, and October ends with our thrilling Halloween Fair.

Autumn Welly Walk Saturday 5 October, 1.45 - 3.30pm
Join us for a fun welly walk on the Horniman’s Nature Trail to discover what insects, animals and plants thrive there in autumn. Have a go at sweep-netting, tree-beating and identifying what you find on this family-friendly walk.

Horniman Market Every Sunday from 13 October, 10am - 3pm
Our weekly market is moving to Sundays from 13 October, with new extended hours. Every week you can enjoy a range of delicious hot food, pick up fresh and seasonal produce from local traders, and treat yourself to irresistible cakes and craft beer.
Join us for the relaunch on 13 October with a special focus on sustainable living. In addition to our regular stalls, the extended market will feature ecological and ethical products ranging from homeware to skincare, workshops on plastic up-cycling and solar power and talks on sustainable fashion and energy.

Stay in Tune Thursdays Every Thursday, 2 - 5.15pm
On Thursday afternoons during term time we're creating an age-friendly space for older adults to socialise.
Each week, adults can enjoy a range of music-based activities for all abilities as well as a variety of tours, demonstrations and information stalls across the whole Museum and Gardens. Come along for the whole afternoon or just drop in when you like.

Final Weeks: Brick Wonders Ends Sunday 27 October
Journey around wonders of the world in 50 LEGO® brick models, ranging from Old London Bridge and the Great Wall of China to the Great Barrier Reef and the International Space Station.
Look out for specially commissioned models of the Horniman Museum and our walrus, and build your own brick wonders at the interactive areas.

Stages of Making Opens Saturday 19 October
Step into this immersive exhibition in The Studio where all the artworks have a story to tell about design, techniques and time.
Inspired by the history of the Horniman and its collections, Stages of Making is produced by a collective of local community members working with artist Katie Schwab. Works include table tops made from yoghurt pots and a giant rag-rug created from used t-shirts by members of the public. Visitors can also take part in free making workshops, trying a range of techniques inspired by some of the Horniman’s collections.

Horniman Halloween Fair Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October 10.30am - 4.30pm
Join us for fiendish fun at our annual Halloween Fair. Meet creepy crawlies up close, enjoy a storytelling performance about the Pied Piper, go on a teacup ride, plus visit our amazing arts and crafts markets and fabulous food stalls. Come dressed in your best costume!
