Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 26 and 27 October, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.

District line
On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October, there will be no service between Tower Hill and East Ham. This is due to line modernisation work. Rail replacement buses will run between Tower Hill and Barking, and also between Canning Town and Barking. Use alternative Tube, local or replacement bus routes.

London Overground

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October, trains will not stop at Whitechapel station (including during Friday and Saturday Night Service). This is due to Crossrail construction work. Use local bus route 205 to/from Shoreditch High Street or route D3 to/from Shadwell.

Network Rail is carrying out work which will affect some London Overground services.

On Sunday 27 October, there will be no service between:
  • Camden Road and Shepherd’s Bush / Richmond until 12:00. Rail replacement buses will run between Camden Road and Gunnersbury. Use District line services between Gunnersbury and Richmond. Use local bus routes 220 or 228 between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush

On Sunday 27 October, there will be no service between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4 until 05:50. This is due to overhead line enhancements. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes.

Buses and roads

Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Hackney – Until 23:59 on Friday 13 December, Lower Clapton Road will be reduced to a single lane with a contra-flow in operation at various points in both directions between Lea Bridge Road and Laura Place. This is due to utility works.

Edmonton
- From 22:00 tomorrow, Friday 25 October until 05:00 Monday 28 October, Angel Road Flyover will be closed westbound. This is due to maintenance works. Traffic will be diverted via the slip-roads during the closure.

A406 near Tottenham
 - From 22:00 tomorrow, Friday 25 until 05:00 on Monday 28 October, the A406 will be closed westbound near Tottenham at the Angel Road flyover. Eastbound traffic will not be affected. From 22:00 on Friday 1 until 05:00 on Monday 4 November, the A406 will be closed eastbound at the Angel Road flyover, with one lane closure westbound. This is for safety work.

Directional closures will also be needed on the weekends of Friday 15 to Monday 18 November and Friday 22 to Monday 25 November to complete the joint replacement and resurfacing works. Visit our A406 travel advice page for updates.

A40 at Acton
– From 22:00 until 05:00 on Saturday 26 October, and from 22:00 on Sunday 27 October until Sunday 24 November, there will be no access into Leamington Park from the A40. The A40 will also have lane restrictions to westbound traffic near Savoy Circus until early 2020. This is for works to construct walking and cycling improvements between Acton and Wood Lane. Drivers should expect delays while travelling westbound during PM peak periods (weekdays 14:00 – 18:00). Please plan ahead, and travel outside peak periods if possible. One of the best ways of making journeys to and from the area during these works will be by the tube. For more information, visit our travel advice page.

Westminster – From 10:00 until 17:00 on Sunday 27 October, a group will form up at Richmond terrace opposite Downing Street, then move along Whitehall, the Strand and conclude at Aldwych. This is for a demonstration. Delays are expected.

Brent – On Sunday 27 and Monday 28 October, the area will be extremely busy. On Sunday from 19:45 until 22:15, there will be lane restrictions on the A406 at the junction of Drury Way. Brentfield Road will be closed on an ad-hoc basis. This is due to an event.

Wembley – From 16:00 until 21:00 on Sunday 27 October, Wembley stadium will be hosting an NFL game. Large pedestrian numbers are expected in the area and traffic levels are expected to increase in the lead up to the game and after the game has concluded. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium.

Check whether your bus is affected.
