Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 9 and 10 November 2019

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 9 and 10 November, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you.
 
 
 
 
London Underground
 
   
Northern line
On Saturday 9 November, there will be no service between Charing Cross and Edgware/High Barnet during the Saturday night and Sunday morning Night Tube service. This is due to track work. Use bus routes N5 from Euston to Edgware or route N20 from Euston to High Barnet, which will run every 15 minutes. 
                
Bakerloo line
On Sunday 10 November, there will be no service between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone. This is due to Network Rail track work and infrastructure maintenance. Rail replacement buses will run.

London Overground
 

 
Tonight, Thursday 7 November, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:30. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run.

On Sunday 10 November, there will be no service between Euston and Watford Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes between Euston and Queen’s Park. Rail replacement buses will run between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone/Watford Junction.

On Sunday 10 November, there will be a reduced service between Gospel Oak and Barking until 12:00 and after 18:30. Trains will run every 30 minutes.

On Sunday 10 November, there will be a reduced service between Gospel Oak and South Tottenham until 1.45pm and after 6pm. Trains will run every 30 minutes.
           
 
 
TfL Rail
 

 
On Saturday from 20:45 until close of traffic, TfL Rail trains will run every 30 minutes to stations between Paddington and Heathrow T4. Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line or West Ealing.  

On Sunday until 05:50, there will be no train service between Paddington and Heathrow T4. Please use local buses to continue your journey, and the Piccadilly line for Heathrow T4.

On Sunday from 05:50, until close of traffic, trains will run every 30 minutes to stations between Paddington and Heathrow T4. Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line or West Ealing.

This closure is to allow for overhead line enhancements and track renewals.

Buses and roads
 

 
Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

City of London - From 07:00 until 17:00 on Saturday 9 November, there will be extensive road closures within the City of London and Westminster for the Lord Mayor's Show parade. Roads will be closed from Bishopsgate in the east, Old Street in the north, Aldywch in the west and Victoria Embankment in the south. At 11:00, Victoria Embankment will be closed between Bridge Street and Upper Thames Street at Southwark Bridge.

Whitehall - From 10:00 until 13:30 on Saturday 9 November, Whitehall and Parliament Street will be closed in both directions between Horse Guards Avenue and Parliament Square. This is due to a wreath laying event.

Broad Sanctuary - On Sunday 10 November, Broad Sanctuary will have directional closures at the junction of Parliament Square and Great Smith Street. From 07:00 until 13:00, it will be closed westbound and from 10:00 until 13:00, it will be closed eastbound. This is due to a parade.

Westminster - Until 18:00 on Sunday 10 November, there will be extensive closures throughout the Westminster area for a ceremonial parade and wreath laying event. From 00:01, Horse Guards Avenue and Great Scotland Yard will be closed. From 03:00, Craig's Court, Derby Gate, King Charles Street, Parliament Street, Scotland Place, Whitehall, Whitehall Court, Whitehall Place, Abingdon Street, Broad Sanctuary, Great George Street, Little George Street, Little Sanctuary, Millbank (between Lambeth Bridge and Great College Street), Old Palace Yard, Parliament Square, St Margaret Street, The Sanctuary and Victoria Street (between Artillery Row and Broad Sanctuary) will be closed.

From 06:00, Horse Guards Road will be closed. From 08:00, Birdcage Walk, Buckingham Palace Road (between Lower Grosvenor Place and Buckingham Gate eastbound), Buckingham Gate eastbound from Palace Street, Marlborough Road, Marsham Street northbound from Horseferry Road, and Matthew Parker Street will be closed.

Traffic will be held temporarily between 10:15 and 11:05 at Hyde Park Corner and its approaches, Victoria Embankment and Westminster Bridge. Westminster Bridge will also have lane restrictions in both directions. All roads will be open once the ceremony is finished, except Whitehall which will remain closed until 17:30.

City of London - From 10:00 until 12:30 on Sunday 10 November, there will be extensive closures in the City of London including Holborn, Holborn Viaduct and Newgate Street between Grays Inn Road and King Edward Street. From 11:20, a parade will begin at New Change and travel to Bank Junction via Cannon Street and Queen Victoria Street. Traffic will be temporarily held along the route of the parade.

Kensington - From 09:30 until 12:00 on Sunday 10 November, Kensington Church Street will be closed northbound. At 10:55, the police will ask all traffic in and approaching Kensington Church Street to stop and observe a two-minute silence between 11:00 and 11:02. All diversions will be removed by 12:00.

Euston Road - From 10:40 until 11:40 on Sunday 10 November, a parade will form up on Euston Road at the junction of Pancras Road and travel to Euston bus station. Delays are expected.

Lewisham Way - On Sunday 10 November, a two-minute traffic hold will take place between 11:00 and 11:10 on Lewisham Way at the junction of Wickham Road and Malpas Road. Delays are expected.

Shepherd's Bush - From 10:15 until 12:15 on Sunday 10 November, traffic will be held temporarily on Sulgrave Road and Shepherd's Bush Road. This is for a parade to Shepherd's Bush Common.

Islington - From 11:00 until 12:00 on Sunday 10 November, Upper Street will be closed in both directions at the junction of Islington High Street, which will also be closed northbound. A parade will march to Spa Green via Upper Street, Islington High Street, Goswell Road and Roseberry Avenue.

Oxford Street - From Sunday 10 until Tuesday 12 November, Oxford Street will be closed between Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus from 22:00 and 06:00 each night. From Sunday 17 until Tuesday 19 November, Oxford Street will be closed between Oxford Circus and Orchard Street from 22:00 until 06:00 each night. From 22:00 on Wednesday 20 November until 06:00 the following morning, Oxford Street will be closed between Marble Arch and Orchard Street. This is to install Christmas lights.

Piccadilly - From Sunday 10 until Tuesday 12 November, Piccadilly will be closed between Hyde Park Corner and Piccadilly Circus from 22:00 until 06:00 each night. On Wednesday 13 November, Piccadilly will be closed in both directions between Hyde Park Corner and St James's Street from 22:00 until 06:00. From Thursday 14 until Saturday 16 November, Piccadilly will be closed in both directions between St James's Street and Piccadilly Circus from 22:00 until 06:00 each night. This is to install Christmas lights.

Brixton -  From 10:00 on Monday 11 until 23:00 on Friday 15 November, Brixton Road will have a lane closure northbound between Offley Road and Prima Road. This is due to Thames Water utility works. Delays are expected.

  • Golden Lane, City of London, due to utility works
  • Waterloo Place, Westminster, due to filming
  • Kensington Gore, Westminster, due to an event at Royal Albert Hall
  • Panton Street, Westminster, due to a crane operation
  • Rochester Row, Westminster, due to utility works
  • Cheapside, Museum of London, Godliman Street, Queen Victoria Street and Guildhall, due to an event
